Ventricular Tachycardia and Medication

Besides BFS... I have a condition where my heart goes into Ventricular Tachycardia. I've been hospitalized for it 3 different times in my life. This time... just like my bfs it has decided to come a stay. If I forget my meds I end up with my heart beating around 180 beats per minute. I don't lose conciousness... which is unusual. I get pretty light headed though.Anyway... I was wondering, could BFS be causing this? Does anyone out there know about v-tach and bfs? If it is related... what should I do? Do I contact the neuro or caridio? Besides making me feel totally disgusting its side effect is fatal heart failure.I'm just falling apart  Patricia

have this as well....mostly triggered by anxiety.....i can bring it down again by drinking cold water.....i am doing sports every day, have been to a heart specialist, he says nothing to worry...i don't think it is bfs-related but could be caused by magnesium-deficeny (see my other thread in the about bfs section).

I got that with BFS ... and it was BFS.My heart was beating like crazy sometime. My pressure was out of control, a way high. And i was having a lot of symptoms of this "crap" too.I have seen that everything was going worst a while (hours) after taking my coffee (only one coffee a day ...).So ... i stopped any coffee, tea ... andThe heart is now REALLY under control. My blood pressure is back to normal, even a bit low. And the BPS are 68. Everything is fine now in that area.May be your case ...

This is strange that this has just been posted. I have high anxiety a lot (OCD) and for years I have occasionally felt like a fluttering/dropping feeling in my chest but used to think that it was a muscles in my chest/oesophagus, not my heart. Then I learned about palpitations related to anxiety so realised that the sensations muct be those. However, I have BFS a lot now and just the last week I have been really sick with a bad cold, and my heart has felt that it has been going crazy, to the point that a few times as I have been falling asleep, or sitting, I have felt that my heart was going to stop. VERY scary. I don't know if it a combination of my BFS, anxiety and being sick, but it has been really bothering me. I have had plenty of physicals and I have never had high BP, but lately I also feel that my heart is pounding. Again, mostly since I have been sick. I am going to see how it goes when I feel better, but may get it checked out. Could BFS twitching cause twitching of the heart too? Just curious...Thanks so much and hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and enjoys the rest of the holiday season.Rachel

Hi there,This has happened to me when I had extreme panic attacks. This used to be the norm for me until my anxiety started taking on more neurological symptoms like this twitching. Also, a couple of summers ago, my heart was constantly throwing PVCS. Had an ultrasound performed and there was nothing wrong. All anxiety related.Have you had an ultrasound just to rule anything out?

I have the same condition. Used to be on beta blockers for a short time for this. Interesting there are several people in the same boat............twitching and irregular heartbeat. Your heart is controlled by electrical impulses and to an degree so are your muscles. Could be a connection.Mike

I had some irregular heart beats right before my twitching hit suddenly bodywide in July 08. They came when I was sitting totally relaxed on the couch thinking of nothing stressful. When I went on benzos for the twitching it got rid of the irregular heartbeats. My theory (not a doctor's) is that the calming of my nervous system from the meds was enough to keep the other aspects of my nervous system calm as well. I never had any thorough heart testing. I just had blood pressure and heart rate tests and they were near perfect so I did not give the heart issues much more thought. By the way, My neuromuscular doctor told me that beta blockers are often given to relieve symptoms of twitching from asthma medications. He even said he would ask a cardiologist about giving them to me even though I dont need beta blockers. He never mentioned it again so I assume it was not a good idea.

the heart also needs magnesium. if you have a cellular lack of magnesium (or potassium), this most probably also has an influence on your heartbeat.

Yep tachycardia and chest pains, thought I was a gonner, rushed into hospital but no underlying heart disease :)I have suffered bouts of irregular hearbeats before and got used to them but this was different, I couldn't even walk around my flat without making it worse. On beta blockers now seems to do the trick. As my GP said the only thing to do is when you have those symptoms is to call an ambulance, you never know whether it is a false alarm or not, and it is better to be safe than sorry.

Not sure if I have it..but when I get a twitch that I do not like, my heart pounds fast and I go into panic mode.My exact movements would be, Jumping up, pacing back and fourth, running to chug on some water, then I feel my whole body weight drop, then I stop every few seconds to see if the twitch is still there, and if it is, I panick more.

From time to time, I have periods when I have PVC's (felt once or twice a day). They can be scary, as you really feel your heart stopped. I began feeling that many years before BFS. Probably it has nothing to do with it.I made lots of heart tests (One Holter, two echo-cardiograms, lots of ECG's, blood tests) in the last four years. Everything normal. The only thing diagnosed was, in the most recent ECG only, a right bundle branch block, which should be nothing to worry about.Carlos
