Has anyone used quinine to control cramping? If so, then with what results? In what quantity and what frequency? Was is prescribed by a doctor? Do you have any concerns about possible cardiovascular side effects?

I also tried quinine several times. It was suggested by my neuro to possibley stop fascics. Only a slight change for me, if any. In Europe it is an OTC drug, no prescription needed.RegardsOliver

There was a study done on meds useful for cramping recently done by the American Academy of Neurology. Kind of short but it may be helpful, though it basically said that a lot more research is needed. Here is the website: . It discusses quinine and gives it a thumbs up for effectiveness but warns about the potentially nasty side effects. I tried one of the the other meds that the study thought had potential, diltiazem, over more than 6 months but I didn't notice any improvement. But it might be worth a try for you.
