Update on Persistent Twitching and Cramping

Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I just thought I would check in and give you all an update. Last I was here I had my second EMG and NCV (one year apart from the last time). Both normal (told I have BFS) but I still had constant twitching in my right calf with major cramping. In fact, if I stand on my tiptoes I can induce a calf cramp. Well, I still have it and it is worse. No weakness but constant and very annoying thumps, bumps, twitches, spasms in my right calf. I do sometimes get twitches in other places but mostly it's the calf. I few months ago I had an eye twitch that went on for about 3 weeks and was CONSTANT. I think about what might cause this stuff all the time. I have a little trouble sleeping when the twitches are particularly jolting (like right now when I should be asleep) but that's the bad news.
The good news is I am still here, twitching away without weakness and I wanted any of you who have had clear EMG's and NCV's (or have been told you have BFS) to know YOU HAVE BFS. So, I hope it helps.
Can't say I never worry but it's getting a little better.
Thanks to this site I made it relatively sanely through the last two plus years.
Wishing you all well!

God Bless, this is wonderful news! Sorry about the cramping. There were some supplements recommended on this site a while back. You might also ask the pharmacist if you get a chance, if you haven't already.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the update. It's obvious from your post that your symptoms are still annoying (to say the least)-BUT you have an awesome attitude and you aren't letting the symptoms beat you. I agree with you about this site--I feel it helped my sanity as well.

I'm also curious to know if you've tried any dietary changes or supplements. I'd suggest eating a banana every morning. I know cramps can be part of this 'syndrome'--but here's hoping you can find some relief from them soon!

Congrats! I am glad to hear another one-legged twitcher (like myself) has passed two EMG's. All of my twitching is in my left calf (with a few exceptions) and it's been that way for 4 months now. I do have periods of time where it has not twitched (lasting anywhere from 2 to 6 days). Do you? Anyway, I haven't had an EMG . . . but passed a neuro exam and have a follow-up next month. Peg

Peg:
Yeah, I feel bad saying it but I am glad there is another 24/7 calf twitcher out there. Nope, never had it go away for more than 5 minutes in the last year. Just saw my neuro again Monday. BFS. I guess that's the good news.
Amy_twitch: Thank you for the nice words. I haven't tried much in the way of dietary changes. I did take potassium and magnesium supplements for a while with no luck. Truthfully, I can live with twitching as long as I KNOW it's benign.
ariza_z2021: Thank you! I think quinine is one of the suggestions but I admit I haven't tried it. I'll look around and see what was recommended again.
Thanks all.
