Unexplained Twitching and Pain

Here I was doing pretty well for a few weeks and of course something else pops up. I am getting really fine twitches that I can feel but can't see in both shoulders (more in my left). They come and go but are present most of the day. It feels like a tickle with a feather. I also get them in other places, but not as often. Having some pain and discomfort in the same shoulder and my right hip as well. Don't know why it is bothering me but it is. It will make me feel better if others are getting the same.On a positive note I had a follow up with my neurologist about 10 days ago and he does not see any problems (of course this had not started yet). What I wanted to share with you though is that he said he was talking to the head of his group who is a predominant neurologist with many years of experience in a major city about twitches and he asked him when was the last time he had diagnosed someone with MND who came in with a primary complaint of fasics. He said never. The other doctor said me either. And neither of them had ever heard of it happening either. He said it just doesn't typically start like that.

thank you for sharing your neuros encouraging words!by the way- i found out we started twitching the same day.... i also get more fine twitches now, some in the shoulder area, some on other places as well, mostly my feet. no pain for me but i sometimes get foot cramps or crampy feelings.but, like you said, every time i feel fine and i start to get the feeling that i can handle the whole twitching thing without being anxious or even nervous a new symptom pops up. i am looking forward to the day i really don´t care about this stuff any more!

Hi Sylvia. Interestingly enough, I'm not worried as much as I am frustrated. It just gets old. I can handle the twitches when they are constant, but when they change all the time it frustrates me. I literally had over a week of almost no twitches. Then, this started up. I guess I'll just stop getting my hopes up.Interesting that we started on the same day. What others symptoms have you experienced?

I started getting them in my shoulders a lot recently too. They are stronger than a feather though...if I were watching when they did it, I could certainly see it. I have had BFS since May 2009.

I get those in what I think of as swarms - half kidding - but they do tend to happen for a while and then go away. It's a spiderweb sort of feeling or a little bug crawley and since I live in an insect infested area I often can't tell if it's the real thing or not. Usually a change of position or some activity that increases my circulation helps if it's just hyper-nerves. Or if it's the real thing a good smack or stomp does the trick. Either way - it is nothing to worry about although I do understand the aggravation.

hi clutchfan,my symptoms change once in a while:-started twitching in right thumb and tongue and it became widerspread within 2 days-in the beginning i had pins and needles in wrists and ankles and a sort of stiffness and heat intolerance in my forearms-percieved weakness on right side of my body on an off-difficulties swallowing and spelling the letter "s"-migrating daily hotspots-buzzing spots around right knee-foot cramps and crampy feelings-all sorts of twitches ( ones you feel but not see, ones you see but not feel, thumpers, soft ones....etc)-in the beginning the twitches woke me up at night and i had a lot of twitching in the morning as well. after a few weeks i felt most of my twitches in the evening and at the moment there is no dominant time of day.twitching is still widespreadduring the last 3-4 weeks i also had days i hardly felt any twitches, but one or two days later they were back in full force...

It's funny how stuff comes and goes with this. I mean I started with pains in my hands and feet which I think was a reaction to a cholesterol medicine the doctor put me on. Then I progressed to twitching and the pains went away. Then burning sensations, pains, twitches moving around a lot, twitching some, twitching none, perceived weakness, perceived tongue issues, etc, etc, etc.The point is, as far as my situation goes, is that no symptoms stay around very long. I mean yes, they might leave and return, but they leave; and to me that is a good sign.On a side note, can anyone else hold their fingers up to their ears and hear popping? Pretty weird! Mine sounds like popcorn in the microwave.
