Understanding Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Well, not quite a Basso in your head unless you use erotic imagery in your treatment.

CBT has a lot more cognitive distortions identified that the one I used in my example of catastrophizing above. The Burns book goes for about 10 bucks at half.com, and is a good investment if you'd like to understand CBT before paying for a therapist. I also found it made me a whole lot less judgemental of people, as I began to recognize all the comfortable cognitive filters I had on my perceptions of people and their motives.

I will say again, it takes a lot of work for CBT to work for you, but then again, so did learning to ride a bike.

Erotic imagery? :D) I like that. That will be the title of my next book. Elemental Imagery Erotically Insinuated Orgasms and your Road to Wellness, or simply, E I E I O.

I like the idea of that book Dave. It is simple and to the point. I guess people have to be willing to put a bit of effort into feeling good. Misery/anxiety/fear are, in part, habits that can be broken.
