Twitching with Ratchety Movements

Shortly after my twitching started I began to experience ratchety/non-smooth movements of my limbs and muscles. For example, if I lift the heel of my foot while sitting in a chair with my feet on the floor, and then lower the heel, it will 'bump' and 'ratchet' as it returns to the floor. The same non-smooth movements also occur in my arms, wrists, and neck. Additionally my body shakes rather violently if I obtain any strenuous position. After 8 months the shaking/ratcheting is still present without any form of improvement... So I am curious, have any of you experienced an improvement in the same symptom(s)? If so, how long did it take to improve? How much did it improve?

I've had two periods where I've had movements very much like what you've described. Both times, they eventually diminished, thankfully. I'm not sure if it's that mine was/is due to anxiety, or some other cyclical/pattern type of presentation.First was February - April 2012. Had the ratcheting pretty bad. It went away gradually over the next month or two. I started an SSRI in May; not sure if that had something to do with it or not.Next was around October 2012. Wasn't as pronounced this time, but again, it eventually went away over the next month or two.

I have it pretty bad... When I lift my arms up they are not smooth on the way down...Same with moving my head up and down.My biggest worry right now is excessive popping and cracking of joints body wide... Really freaking me out!How can BFS cause so many issues and not be taken as a serious condition. It boggles my mind. I feel like my muscles and joints are deteriorating every day...

YES YES YES!!!!Skonen, this is the same thing I have tried to describe to other members that I have ALL the time. Recently, I noticed it even more so after taking a semester of yoga. In between transition of poses (which, apperently are sapposed to be smooth transitions.... not the case for me), I noticed leaning forward (using my torso to lean forward) I can feel this almost "cranking" motion as I lean forward. Exactly as you said, "ratchety" movements. Same goes for my limbs (i.e. knees bending, elbow bends, when i look "downward" with just my neck, but where i feel it the most is my torso. Almost feel like the tin man from Wizard of OZ, maybe I need some WD40. Your not alone! hope this helps. Carm
