Twitching with Perceived Weakness

Hi allIm 1,5 years into twitching and percieved weakness. I have no diagnosis, but every test that has been made has been clear and the twitches are most likely benign according to neuro.I have a "dent" on my right hand which is my strong hand. Its located between my thumb and index finger, just "behind" the lump (the muscle between the fingers...). The dent gets very prominent when I spread my fingers. Im nervous that this "dent" is atrophy but the sane part of me thinks that this is normal anatomy. My question is, should the muscle between the thumb and index finger fill up all space between the bones in the hand? If this in fact is atrophy I guess it should be followed with weakness, in what way would weakness in that spot show? My hand feels weird and slow but there is no weakness that I know of.I have a new app at the neuro in two weeks..Thanks!

Hi Pandy, you are definitely not alone here. many our fellows have once noticed that they have some space between thumb and index finger, mostly men, so I believe it might be due to the fact that you have more chances to do certain heavy works :)looks like it is a variant of normal muscle structure.

I discovered this dent for the first time a few nights ago and pointed it out to my wife who promptly showed me the same dent on her hands. I have it on both my left and right hands and it is more prominent when the fingers are spread, I have been noticing all sorts of things like this as of late due to loosing weight and being hyper vigilant. I really think everyone has this dent to some degree. No worries man.

Pandy, I have the same thing. There is more muscle between my thumb and index finger on my right hand (dominant hand) than my left. I freaked out when I found this because I had started twitching a few weeks before. I thought I was in real trouble. However, I also learned weakness in a certain disease comes before atrophy. So, that's good to know. It's probably always been there but I just started looking for it now. I'm going to the neuro on Monday to get checked out. Good luck with your appointment!! :D)
