Twitching since December - Worried

HelloI have been twitching now since Dec and it has spread all over, but it is constant in left foot same spotI(middle of arch) and getting worse! I am freaking out b/c it is in the same area. Isnt that a bad sign? I do get them in right foot now and calves, butt, arms, thighs, etc, but those only last a few seconds and go, but my left foot will not stop! I started to feel better after EMG, which said :IMPRESSION: Equivocal study. The mild, chronic reinnervation seen in intrinsicfoot muscles bilaterally can be present in asymptomatic individuals and ispresumably due to traumatic injury to distal motor branches; however, chronictibial neuropathies at both ankles cannot be excluded. There is no evidencefor a generalized polyneuropathy or for a proximal tibial neuropathy or L5/S1radiculopathy on the left. Not sure if that rules out anything? Also, now I feel like my throat/front of neck is twitching...is that even possible?? Also, does anyone ever get like a pain say back of thigh (which I am getting right now) and then it starts to twitch?Someone said twitching could be a come from cancer in the body, how true is this? I am just having a hard time thinking this is nothing and dont know where to go from here...HELP!

You can possibly get twitching from a metastisised (sp) tumor, but that would be even more rare than ***. Furthermore, it would be hard for cancer to hide with all the tests we go through. I get the thigh twitching thing and the occasional throat twitch. There are a few people on the board with twitching that is much more localized than yours. Your symptoms sound typical BFS.Becky

I have a constant twitch in my left hand and regular twitches in feet and calves as well as the frequent ones everywhere else. I think the association between cancer and twitching is that cancer can provoke an immune response that creates antibodies that irritate the nerves. An immune response can also be provoked by many other things which is why lots of people have autoimmune diseases and no cancer. I even read of someone being stung by a wasp and then developing neuromyotonia (constant bodywide twitching). I'm assuming the wasp sting provoked an immune response that impacted the nerves.

I don't think I have been exposed to mold spores, have you been Jersey? Some people think the twitching can be from Lyme, but I dont think I have it, since the Lyme test was negative and I think I would be a lot sicker. I do have deer in my backyard though! I know the lyme test can have a lot of false negatives so it always was in the back of my mind- like I got some mild form of it and it caused all this twitching and muscle pain. But, the Neuro said if the twitching was caused by Lyme disease it would show up on EMG.JroAre you saying that cancer can cause twitching? Should I be looking into that? I know I sound crazy, but this twitching is driving me nuts, especially now that it is in my throat and even tongue! I swear I felt it on my cheek as well!

Hi there Chez8I don't pretend to understand the wording of EMG reports but there is certainly no mention of ALS and the only issue seems to be whether the study is within normal limits or suggests some sort of neuropathy. Given that neuropathy would not cause generalised fasciculations all over your body then I assume that that the neuropathy comment is a red herring. I do'nt think that the cancer link is relevant - I've never come across this and I've seen plenty of cancer in my job.Kind regardsSimon

Chez, no exposure that I am sure of but I read another poster when I first joined that swears that was the cause of his twitching. He wrote that when he had his air conditioner unit replaced, the old one was infested with black toxic mold. I do suspect that I have a mold problem in my condo but I do not have the money to have the air professionally tested as I am living in a rented condo. I also know that my landlord is too cheap to have it done because it costs about $500. There was a gradual water leak that went unnoticed for a long time that was leading from the hot water heater closet and was seeping under the enclosed stairwell. There are also several areas in the roof that have leaked in the past when it rained heavy. I don't know if I will ever know the true answer until I move out. I also was wondering if there are blood tests to request to check if you have been exposed to toxic mold. Anyone?

I'm having a bit of a freak out. My body-wide twitching began in early Feb. Had a clean EMG in late March. Twitching has gone hot and cold over the last month or so. But I've been having some weird abdominal stuff (burning pain in the right upper area) that comes and goes, some burning in the lower back. Intermittent upper chest pains. Health anxiety has kicked in and I'm linking the recent (February) start to the twitching with the abdominal problems and thinking they have to be connected. Perhaps its colon or stomach cancer that has tripped off the whole twitching thing.
