Twitching Since Dec 05 - Onset & Impact

Hi - just wanted to say that my twitches started in Dec 05- I had an EMG on my left arm immediately, which showed nothing, of course. The twitches subsided quite a bit but have never totally disappeared.

Life went on.

Now - something new!

The index finger on my right hand is "twitching" but so strongly it moves to the side, and back. This has been going on for 1 1/2 months, so I finally broke down and decided to see the Doc, which will be happening tomorrow.

Yes, I admit, I'M WORRIED!! (you all know what I'm worried about - the disease we don't like to mention)

Has anyone had strong finger spasms, all in the same finger, for prolonged periods of time (weeks, months?)

Robin

All the time.At the moment my left thumb and index finger has started. A lot of the twitches I get I know are never going away. This is one of them. I have learned this over my twelve years of this disorder. It has been absolutly methodical in its spread.

Hey Robin--

Not only is finger twitching super common around here, but the simple fact that you have been twitching for a year and a half should put your mind at ease. I have read numerous times that even in the rare, rare, rare cases where something bad starts with fascics, if you don't show any of the uglier symptoms within 6 months to 1 year, you are golden.

I'm at 7 months and can't wait till November, which would mark one year since mine began. That's why I like to hear from "veteran" twitchers; cuz after a certain amount of time you really should be all set.

Hotspots are normal, wherever they may be. Let us know when the doc tells you you're still fine :)

I went to the doctor yesterday, and felt like a fool because the "jumping finger" was utterly, totally still the day I went to see her. It has not twitched since.

The look in her eye was hard to describe as she offered to prescribe lorazepam. I told her I was not interested in benzodiazapenes, as I know they are very addictive.

Anyway, so goes this wild and wacky syndrome.

Thanks so much for the support and kindness I find on this forum. It's a lifesaver when I let me mind run away with me, and get all worried for nothing.
