Twitching Right Index Finger

Hello,I'm so glad to have found this website b/c I'm incredible anxious about my symptoms and would appreciate any insight. In December I notice my right index finger would periodically twitch. It moves back and forth towards my middle finger. At times it also seems like the muscle between my index finger and thumb is jumping(spasming.) It can last around 5 seconds to 15 seconds. It was happening a few times a day and seemed to happen at rest and when I was using the hand. It seemed to go away in early January but has come back over the past few weeks. I also feel like I'm experiencing internal tremors in my hand and feet. It feels like your hand or feet are moving but it is not visible to the eye. I have had significant neck pain for the last two years which I believed was related to cervical DDD and a daily headache disorder. I am so afraid that this is Parkinson's. I came across this website and was curious of any of you with BFS have symptoms like mine or to be BFS does twitching have to be more widespread and without internal tremor? I've read that if the twitch recurs in the same place it is of greater concern. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Well it doesn't sound like Parkinson's to me (but I am not an expert). The spasming you saw between your fingers sounds exactly like the sort thing you get with BFS -- it has happened to me on many occasions, and if I'm in the company of friends of family, it's quite funny to freak them out a little by showing the the twitchy finger or thumb :D). I don't believe there is any specific pattern associated with BFS. Mine are widespread and frequent but for others they only occur in certain places. As for the "internal tremors" -- that might either be an aspect of BFS or perhaps even a product of your anxiety. You are obviously hypersensitive to everything that's happening in your body at the moment because of your concerns -- that's only natural, I know, but it means that your not necessarily the best judge of what's real and what you are imagining is real.No one can diagnose over the Internet, of course, so if you're still worried, I would go and see a neurologist. I suspect he/she will be able to lay your fears to rest in no more time that it takes to read this thread. All the Best,MikePS. I should add that many BFSers feel a sort of buzzing or vibration in various parts of the body too. I don't recall ever having felt that, except for in one toe for a while, but others do.

I've had twitching, buzzing, thumpers and more. The one that really gets me is the buzzing or internal vibration in the thigh. Sometimes, and it's happened to both thighs at some point or another, I'll actually inwardly and outwardly feel the entire thigh shaking. It's hard to pinpoint exactly one place where the muscle is fasciculating, but the whole thigh area feels shaky, and is visibly moving. I think the same type of thing has happened in the arms/shoulders and in my back. That will usually last a day or two and then stop.I've chalked it all up to BFS. It's amazing how it migrates and changes positions constantly. I've also had vibrating feelings or buzzing in my feet (despite never seeing actual twitching there).-Ant

I doubt that twitches being in the same place over a period of time means anything. I just had a rather irritating twitch in my right eyelid that lasted over two months. Unless my other fasciculations, it stays in one place and is more vigorous than the usual twitches. I wasn't worried about it though. Why not? Because over the 10 years I have had BFS, the persistent twitch visits me one every couple of years or so, but always goes away in the end. A couple of years ago it was a muscle next to my left elbow -- that seems to last for an age, and was particularly aggravating at times and lasted several weeks. Another time it was a muscle in my lower back. Not quite as bad, but it went on for a good while too. They are more persistent and noticeable than the usual twitches, which makes them more annoying, but they are just another part of the whole BFS family of ticks, tremors and twitches (the three tees?) that us BFSers are blessed with :D)

wwmm,The internal tremor, buzzing, vibrating, humming, shaking feeling has been my most significant symtpom for over 2 years. This presents a great challenge because I have persistent (and I mean all the time) muscle fatigue. My body feels like I've just worked out with weights always. I can only assume that my muscles are tired because they are in constant motion. This is bodywide for me and sometimes it will even result in a visible tremor or shakiness. It's much worse when I'm tired or if I drink too much alcohol (usually I notice it the next day). I seen 2 top notch neuro's who specialize in als. I've had all the tests and they have all come back normal. I've been told that whatever I have it's nothing serious. I've recently been called "unique" by my neurologist. I would try not to worry.....I know that is easier said than done. I've taken comfort in knowing just how many people (on this webiste) have suffered from the same symptoms I have (for much longer too) and they are still around without any serious dx. Maybe that can help you too. I would search the archives of this website. It will bring you some comfort.CDC
