Lot's of other things (not only diseases) cause twitching such as electrolyte imbalances. In my case my Dr thinks it's either from Mycoplasma ferm (a bacteria I tested pos for) or Lyme (which I also tested pos for- but that only means I've been exposed to it during my life-doesn't tell me whether or not I have it). I just read a web site regarding Lyme that posts muscle twitching as a symptom but I don't know how to add a link. It's very interesting but uncommon in some areas. For most of us, the cause is never discovered, however, stress and anxiety as well as excercise can temporarily worsen the twitching. Try not to worry. Twitching without weakness is not a symptom of als. Have you seen a neuro yet?
