Twitching Increase: Terrifying Fear

I have posted a few times before on this forum, I am absolutely terrified right now. I started twitching back in May and have noticed my twitches getting stronger. I twitch literally all over, I don't know a place of me that hasn't twitched over the past few months. I am specifically scared right now because my finger twitches seem to be sinister. I have noticed more twitching in my toes now as well, my finger twitching on my right hand first started with a 'hot spot' which is still there, though what scares me most is that my twitches have only gotten stronger. I'm not worried so much about MS because I have no muscle weakness at all, but my grandmother has Huntington's disease which means if my dad has it then I have a 50/50 chance of having it as well. I just want to know that the symptoms I am having aren't that of this horrbile disease but simply BFS, I can do that by drawing comparisons to people on this site. I'm so tired, I can't sleep, I'm just exhausted and wish more than anything I could stop worrying and get some rest, please can someone help me?

Your story sounds so familiar I could have written it myself. You are just as fine as I am. No MS, ALS, or anything else debilitating. Getting the anxiety under control should be a priority. Get yourself a good therapist so you can start living life again.

Michael,I'd say it is safe to say that most of us here have been there and done that. I was skeptical of this forum as it is on the internet and anyone can write basically anything they want. Now that I am 10 months in and have been cleared by a neuromuscular specialist, I can attest to the fact that there is a lot of great factual information here. This site helped me maintain my sanity in the early days of my fasics. While fasics aren't normal, they aren't necessarily indicative of anything sinister. In fact, there are literally thousands of people who have joined this forum dealing with very similar issues that turned out to be nothing more than muscle fasiculations. Take a deep breath, try to remain rational, and get to a doctor if you think you should. I don't know about the genetic condition you alluded to. If I were you, I'd talk to a doctor ASAP. Go to a neuromuscular specialist if you can...it can save you a lot of time and anxiety. But you're fine... :)

Yes, get to a neuromuscular specialist. It is probably BFS as you describe it, but just seeing the doctor will help. Mine also started in my right hand (ring finger) and was eventually diagnosed with BFS. If you can't get in to see the neuro right away, go to your GP who can probably help you with your anxiety in the short term.

My finger(s) and toes have been twitching for some time now and it has been nothing more than a big annoyance and BFS.I've asked my Neuro about Huntingtons Chorea and he reassured me I was no where near something like that. I'll be going to my Neuro appt next week and hopefully get more answers....
