Twitching for 3+ Years

Hi everyone,

I have been twitching for over three years now, after a year did the EMG/ NCS and got the all clear. During the last two years have managed to fight off the health anxiety that tries to creep up on you especially during high stress/ twitch times. But here I go again... is it normal for your thenar muscle (under the thumb) to contract three or four times after you use your hand? I can't remember what if that would go under the auspice of BFS. I am trying not to freak out but it is almost everytime I use my hand, that muscle keeps contracting afterwards. I am now moving on to looking for hand atrophy etc...any thoughts would really be appreciated!
Thank you!
Christine

Hi Christine:

I get this, too. Please, please ignore it. When my EMG & NCV were done, that is one of the spots they stuck me- due to my telling them that it moved my thumb. All was fine.

I've had this "junk" for almost 3 years and I still struggle with creepy thoughts.

Take care. I wish you the best.

Hi Vanessa, Thank you for the reply:) Did your muscle keep contracting at least three or four times after you would use it? I was thinking this feels alot different from twitching and after a voluntary movement. Would the Emg shown anything two years ago...you can see I have moved on to full anxiety...

I wouldn't say it's a cramping contraction, but more of an "obvious twitch" due to a smaller muscle but then again large for it's place on the body. I hope you can follow that one, I'm terrible at expressing my thoughts. Some of the time it's strong enough to move my thumb other times it's just a big thumper.

Hope this helps. By the way...
find my "read this" topic post (posted yesterday) I bet it will calm you down.

I forgot...Yes, it's always after I use it. 3-5 times for me.
I helped my hubby in the yard this weekend and it did it after I used the shovel. Does it happen to be the hand you use the computer mouse with? This might aggrevate it, also. Does for me.

Thank you so much for the peace of mind... it is only in my left hand and I am right handed so not the mouse but holding anything or buttoning shirt etc...but the jerks move my whole thumb and palm back and forth . I guess it is probably just a big old thumper not a fatal sign of something horrible :) hopefully, I can keep that in my mind until this panic feeling goes away! Thanks again,
Christine
