Twitching for 20 Years: ALS Concerns

but i dont know for sure. i bhave had a twitch in my calf for 20 years.about 4 years ago i developed a twitch in my right forarm. my doc sent me to a specialist and he did an emg and was checking for als. i was told it wasnt als 4 years ago. about six months back i went once again and again was told no als. Maybe nerve damage. but now my eyelids are twitching, left calf is out of control, both thumbs, and its makin me crazy. it never stops 24-7 even while im sleeping but not as bad. i was put on lexapro about 2 months ago and was feelin good then all this twitchin started about 2 weeks ago. i am going to see my doc next week i hope its just the lexapro but i am starting to think i might have bfs. at least i hope its that and not als. anyone have twitching NON STOP please let me know thanks

Hey...you are golden by the sounds of things. Lexapro actually contributes to more twitching, and eye twitching is the commonest twitch of them all.

You are good to enjoy Christmas, or Chinese and a movie...

No matter what, don't waste time with any more thoughts beyond BFS.

Cheers,
Basso

well im glad to hear that. i had a feeling but you never know i am going to cut back i am only on 5 mlgs but i guess that strong stuff. do you know that lexapro causes twitching from experience or what

I have no experience with that drug, or any other...well, except when I was young. ;) I have read here many times how SSRI's have actually caused, or made twitching worse. I guess if it makes you feel less anxious, and you don't mind twitching then it is no problem. It is, obviously, something you would have to decide for yourself.

Merry fascicmas,

are you kiddin. how can you relax when your twitching like a vibrator. plus all the thoughts of what might be causing it. i am going to get off that stuff slowly and start smoking pot or drinking(just kidding) thanks merry x mas. anyone else have anything to add i would appreciate it and so would my nerves ha ha

I never ever ever stop twitching. It's maddening.

The fact of the matter is that you don't have als my friend - you would be dead by now. Enjoy Christmas.

well then the heck with it i just have to start dealing with it then. thanks everyone this is a great site. to bad we couldnt have a twitching convention and all get together and compare twitches. we can make light of it maybe then it wouldnt be soo frustrating. Merry Christmas All. P.S of coursr i am going to exhaust all possibilities being the hypo i am. I do think the stinkin LEXAPRO has alot to do with the new ones
