Twitching for 2 Years: Muscle Gains Possible?

So guys I've been twitching non-stop for two years. Honestly, it still freaks me totally out at times of high stress. My calves and feet go 24/7, plus I have twitches everywhere though they are not as bad as they used to be.

Here is a question: is it possible to twitch for two years in your calves and actually gain muscle mass and have a mnd? From a scientific standpoint could that happen?

Truthfully, though I know it's crazy to some extent, I still worry that this is somehow serious. It's just maddening...and very depressing to deal with day to day.

Mark, you sound just like me for the past few months. I had myself in such a tizzy that I was driving myself crazy! I truly believe that you are okay after all this time. Have you been to a doctor recently? My last appointment was the one that slapped me in the face and gave me a reality check. I don't know if you read my post about it, but I got ticked off about it and I am moving on. It's been almost 3 years for me.
Please don't let this bring you down. Call your doctor, get an appointment and maybe you can feel better. I saw a great doctor in Pittsburgh, he gave me friend an ALS dx and said I have BFCS. I felt great about it for a few months but with all the cramping in my calf (which I have had for a year now) I started to worry all over again. I recently went to my local neurologist and he told me once again that I do not have ALS. He told me that he has lots of men and women with BFS, but has never seen anyone as tense about it as me. As weak as I feel, as thin as I am, he told me I am very, very stong!
Take care and please try not to worry!

Hi Mark,

I have been twitching with other symptoms for over 6 years, and I hate to say it if I'm really honest with myself I'm still not convinced that I may have something more than BFS. I get on with life never mention it to anyone but inside me I'm just not convinced. BUT... I do remember the second Neuro I saw saying to me and that was 2 years into symptoms, that if I had leg problems which is what I was complaining about that by that time I would be dragging a leg. So I'm sure you would be worse off than you are now. Oh yeah, I have an uncle in his 70's who has had calf twitching non stop for the past 20 or so years, honestly you can see them moving all over the place, he has no neuro disease!. :D)
If you are only twitching I wouldn't be worried.-

Mark,
reality check. NO NO NO NO NO.

You would be a medical miracle to have an mnd. This is your mind playing tricks on you. From an unbias standpoint the thought of you having an mnd after 2 years is ridiculous.

I wish i was in your twitching shoes!!

think about the possibility of gaiing muscle mass WITH MND....

muscle fibres die off, which in turn your nerves that are still active recruit other muscle to do the job, that muscle would increase MAYBE for oh, i dunno, a few days until those nerves carked it and that muscle would die, after 2 years (or in my dad's case, 1 year) you would have no muscle left to build..

I totally understand your worries, as i have my days only 4 or so months into it without EMG or scans..

i googled "muscle atrophy" under images section, and well, needless to say my legs look nothing like what i found... i feel sorry for them
