Twitching During Relaxation/Exertion: Cause for Concern?

I read somewhere that twitching during relaxation is benign, and twitching during muscle exertion is usually associated with ALS. I hope this is not true! Because lately I've been experiencing twitching in my arms/legs after using a certain muscle. Any thoughts?? Thanks!!

Twitcher78--

Maybe I misunderstood your post, but I would think twitching AFTER exerting a muscle is not the same as twitching DURING exertion of that muscle. I was able to stop a real thumper in my bicep by flexing it and using the arm; once I'd stop, the thumper started back up. Drove me crazy, but it was gone by the next morning. In fact, many people here have noted that they sometimes induce twitching by stretching, flexing or otherwise using a muscle, plus twitching in a muscle following exercise is normal for many people, even those without BFS. So, if you're getting twitches after exerting a muscle, I think that is "normal" for BFS and nothing to worry about.

First: I'm not sure and maybe nobody is. Don't assume the worst.

Second: you used 2 different things...you said during and after. Is it during or after ?

It isn't about post exertional twitching. We all get that, as well as fascics at rest. This is normal with bfs.

My understanding is that at the moment you are using the muscle, the twitches hypothetically stop. Not before or after. Poll the constant calf twitchers to test this theory out. I personally doubt that their twitches would stop the moment they start stretching their calfs out, though. JMO.

I can't say what happens if, for example my bicep twitches, then I go to flex it. Does it stop? I dunno. I certainly do twitch plenty after I've challenged the muscle. This has always happened, even pre-bfs.

Blessings,
Sue
