Twitching, Burning and cramping pains

I've been twitching for 6 months, thankfully with no weakness and a normal EMG. Over the last couple of months, I've noticed very frequent burning cramping pains in my left calf & shin, & less so in my right calf, right hand & both feet. Most of my pains are not actual cramps, i.e. there is no tightening or hardening of the muscle. The pain often comes on after using the relevant muscles. I also have the often-mentioned rubbery feeling of muscles in my left calf & thigh together with subjective (but not actual!) weakness.

Most of the discussion in this forum has been about twitching, but I wondered how common muscular pains were?

I have them exactly as you described?? They fluctuate for me. Usually going for nearly a week with terrible pains and then they die off. Only to come back again in a couple of days. In any case, I definately have what you describe. I did get a lot better with Advil (3x3 per day). Good luck.

I have this.

I have been twitching for nearly a year. The twitches are not as bad as they were but I have in the last 6 months been getting pains just like dwl described. I have not had any cramps in the last year , but the pain is a little like cramp. It has faviourite places that always ache and it comes and goes in other parts. Sometimes its an ache and sometimes a sharp throbbing pain that comes and goes. I get some joint pain as well

the pain is there at rest sometimes and also on using muscles it gets worse.

I find it more of a problem than the twitches were.

I have had a lot of tests for thyroid, ANA, ESR, Rheumatoid factor, Lyme disease and lots more I can't remember - all normal.

I would be very interested to know how many other people get this. I have been worrying about it a lot recently.

I did post a question to diotz2 who also has something similar a few weeks ago - see "Question for diotz2" . If anyone can shed any light on this please do let us know.

AHHh...pain....that's the worst part! I could deal with the twitches if there was no pain or fatigue involved. I get the pein just like you describes. It's not really a cramp because the muscle doesnt tighten. My neuro said something about "benign-muscle-pain-fasciculation-syndrome"....who knows?....It just annoying!
How about popping joints? anyone experience mor of that?

I have muscle pain too, mostly in the calves but sometimes in the forearms. It seems worse when I'm tired or tense.

Javens, it seems like my joints pop a lot since the BFS started too. Although I always did have crackling in my knees, even as a child.

How bad are the pains you get? In know its hard to quantify pain but i would be grateful if you could give me some idea.

I used to get mild pains that i could ignore. Now they are a lot worse and quite debilitating. i am never completely free of them

Massage works wonders for the muscle soreness/pain/and even the twitching (for me at least). I swear by it, and go as often as I can, about 2 a month, it also puts me in a very relaxed mood, and I feel great for weeks after. Just a thought to relieve some of your aches, pain, and stresses.

(message for "R")

The pains are usually about 2-3/10, not very distressing but more worrying & annoying. I had one definite calf cramp (with muscle shortening & hardening) during the night that was about 8/10, but it only lasted a couple of minutes. I'm sorry to hear that yours are so severe.
