Twitching Better, New Symptom: Anxiety?

Okay, for the most part my twitching is better, which is great! I had a hotspot that lasted for two days straight, but finally went away.

Although now I have a new symptom. I feel like my tongue is weak and have a lump feeling in my throat. Could this just be anxiety?? Also, if someone starts out with twitching and perceived weakness in limbs for only 2 months (without extreme progression), can they already have bulbar ALS symptoms that quick?? Thanks you guys!

You do NOT have bulbar ALS symptoms. What you are describing can be caused by a myriad of benign things from anxiety to reflux. The lump in the throat is actually called globus sensation and is notoriously caused by anxiety as well as reflux. Do you have reflux by chance? The weak sensation in the tongue is PERCEIVED weakness. True clinical weakness, there is just no mistaking that. Seriously, speaking as a doctor, if you have to ask then trust me it is not weak. Perceived weakness of ANY muscle and your tongue is a muscle is very common with BFS.

No worries kiddo.

Mmmm anxiety and you may even have some silent reflux, which means that you don't have heartburn but may have a dry cough, tight throat, lump sensation even may feel like post nasal drip or a sore throat or hoarseness.

At any rate kiddo, I do not think you have anything to worry about.

I had the "lump in throat" feeling several months before my reflux was officially diagnosed. It was constant; still get it at times. It took quite a long time taking prescription GERD medication for it to go away, (that was 20 years ago.) I've had BFS for many many years, and on and off I get what I guess is "preceived" weak throat & tongue muscles. Very vague, but there, hard to enunciate some words, some food gets stuck in throat, voice sounds horse, etc. I've had these throat & tongue symptoms a few times in the past decade or more. They always eventually go away, (I have to admit--I can't help but worry when I have them--but intellectually know the odds of them being anything REALLY serious are almost nil.) I've been having symptoms again for a few weeks now. Denise

Yeah... That tongue-throat-thing really sucks because it is so "close" and in the most sensitive area of the head.

First it was somehow a cramp-like "pain" and weakness-sensation in the back that appeared every 10 days for 1-2 days.

If I "blow up" my cheeks or lips or if I press the tip of the tongue to the side on a tooth it sometimes does that trembling. Like if you're on adrenaline and have shaking hands. Then just some hours later it is gone. But right now it lasts for some days as it seems...

I think a lot of mine has to with anxiety too. If I read about a symptom or something, I start thinking I have that too! It's awful! Like today I feel like my neck is weak and my whole face, tongue, etc. I guess I just have a very powerful mind, at least that's what I'm hoping ;)
