Twitching and Fasciculations: HELP!

I have been recovering from a gastro and upper respiratory tract infection in the last days and now I really feel I cannot stand this anymore. My sub-abdominal twitching have gone crazy, my back and arms will start to have fasciculations as soon as I move, the same with my knees. My recovery from that infection is nearly done and I do not recall anything like that in the past years. Especially the abdomen and sub abdominal area is something I cannot stand, it goes non stop and its felt so much! I keep asking myself "why is now getting worse"? If this is benign then why the symtoms are getting worse and worse? I have very dark thoughts though I know I would not kill myself..sorry for the vent, I just cannot believe that such a widespread and that frequent can this crap be :(

Maybe on the other hand it is worse because you have infection. I also have now upper tract infection and seems worse. And I remember that any infection makes me worse. Everything what Johhny told is true, I just wanted to add that maybe when you infection is FULLY recovered + some weeks you will feel better again. Hang in there!

Thank you. I really appreciate your help despite the fact that sometimes we argue in some threads. It means a lot for me, thank you.

God, how I hate infections. When I catch the slightest cold, my twitching multiplies two days before the first symptoms start and stays really bad for 1 or 2 weeks afterwards. Worse still, I also get cramps. I can't tell you how they freak me out. I also have a common cold right now, and I'm getting scary twitches in my knees (the ones where one muscle bundle contracts, quivers for 1 second and then relaxes. That repeats every 5 seconds or so...) on top of twitches all over my body (yes, also abdomen), and woke up this night from a cramp in my calf...

I totally understand your need to vent and hope you're doing okay. I'm sorry you're in such a dark place right now, but know that you will be better (I'm certain of this). As you know, so very many people have a huge increase in symptoms when they get sick (probably due to some sort of auto-immune nature to our BFS). So, not only are you dealing with your poor health right now but increased twitching, which adds fuel to the fire.As confident as I usually feel, the minute I have a new or exacerbated symptom, I start worrying again. It's in our nature, I think. Right now, the back of my right calf (where the majority of my twitching occurs) feels tight, like there's a pulled muscle there, and my mind has been spinning. I had to get back on here and search for "tight" or "stiff" muscles and found entry after entry on here, which relieves my mind (to a degree).Anyway, I hope you can feel that you can lean on people on this board, no matter what. I know sometimes people get argumentative with you on here, which I think is because you a) have a medical background and b) are still so worried despite the fact that you're 5 years into this. We figure you'd be the last person to doubt that you're dealing with is benign because of this. But, in reality, most of us, while we can be the "voice of reason" with others, are very doubtful and scared for ourselves when we get new symptoms (which almost all vets seem to get). We tend to think we're might be the exception to the rule (even if it's a 1 in a million chance). New or increased symptoms simply S&CK, that's all I can say. Please try to do something to make yourself feel a little better and I'm hoping your abdominal twitches stops or at least slows down. You're just dealing with a nasty hotspot in a weird area.Mitra

This night was a nightmare. I slept no more than 2 hours together. The abdominal rippling makes it impossible + simultanous twitching in back, arms and elbows. Those of you who claim to have it 24/7, how do you manage to fall asleep? thanks.. :(

I will have to go for a benzo too. The abdomen tonight is really bad, not a minute wihout a twitch. Does anyone have it like that? Hours and hours, days, no break and odd place like abdomen.

And they all think I am "the crazy one". I mean man, after 5 years... For hours, for days... You didn't even have BFS before. Today my facial muscle is twitching so anybody can see it, luckily nobody is near me ;)

Docen, sorry to hear about your flare up, this "sydrome" is so hard to digest sometimes. I too notice a considerable flare up in sx after battling a flu or illness. My guess is something to do with cellular water levels due to dehydration. Hope your twitching goes to normal levels for you again. I do twitch 24/7 as well. A mild benzo will help, of course only use it for a few weeks. Greg
