Twitches Everywhere - My Story

Hey again everybody. Just wanted to see if there is anyone like me. Here it goesMy right tricep twitches incessantly, as well as my calves and arches. Other than that, on any given day I can have hundreds or thousands (never counted) of other twitches in my quads, hamstrings, butt, back, hands, forearms, stomach, rib cage, shoulders, lip, eyes, neck, chest, etc. I can count on this every single day. This whole thing started with a bicep twitch (which went away after two weeks) and never returned (just very infrequently). From there a bunch of random spots started acting up, and have not gone away yet. I twitch somewhere on my body (outside of the continuous areas) absolutely every second of every day. This has been going on, and seemingly progressing, for about 6 months now. I have absolutely no weakness. What the hell is this thing, and am I way more severe than most of you guys and gals out there. I'm getting really, really sick of this, and have no clue what the heck is going on. I would think that at the least, in my continuous twitching spots, I would have had weakness by now. Please give me some more insight (yes, I still need it) because I'm going out of my mind. Thanks, Eric

raideryparkeryranger...I have the same exact symptoms as you. In fact, my twithcing is so frequent, I have developed a tremor sensation in my arms and shoulders. I mostly get this when I wake in the morning for some reason. It is weird but if I have the twitching in my feet and arches, my arms will stop while this is happening. When my arms and hands are twitching moslty between my thumb and index fingers, I won't have as much twithing in the legs. It is almost as if there is a snake in my body roaming around from limb to limb lol. Anyway as far as counting the twitches, I don't think I can count that high. I am in this misery 3 months now so it is also all new to me. Hope this helps you knowing you're not alone. Just throwing this out there; have you taken any antibiotics in the past year or so for anything? Just curious. Talk with you soon brother twitcher, hang in there.

JerseyDevil, yes, I did take antibiotics roughly 1 year ago for a sinus infection. My twitching didn't start until 6 months later, however, I did develop geographic tongue right after myantibiotic treatment (another autoimmune type of disease). Also, I am originally from NJ, went back home this August, got bitten by a deer tick. I've had lymes once when I was 15, but didn't have twitching. Got a short 3 week course of Antibiotics and that was it. Maybe it's in it's late stages. No clue, just trying to make some connections. Ever have lymes?Lates, E

I have been twitching like that for 2 years now--feet/calves constant then random twitches throughout body constantly, too. I have not had a part on me not twitch. My tongue really seems to be getting it lately.

Eparker, How interesting that your symptoms started 6 months after the antibiotics. My symptoms also started 6 months after a month cycle of Levaquin and Bactrim. I took them in August and developed the twitching in December. I can't say for sure that this is the cause of my twitching but I am definately trying to see if there is a link. What antibiotic were you on? Levaquin is a controversial antibiotic so this is why I ask. Let me know brother twitcher. Take care.

I was on doxy, and my twitches started about 6mths after. I wasn't on for long, only about 14 days or so. Dude, do you really have the twitching all over the place. I mean can you honestly say that not more than five seconds goes by without a twitch? (aside from your calves/feet). All of mine outside of my legs (which are constant) happen honestly every couple of seconds. Just writing this I had them in my arms, legs, and hand. E

You are not alone. I have had constant body-wide twitching for going on 8 months now and no weakness either. I have had numerous tests which I won't recount except for clean EMGs and a muscle biopsy showing denervation and reinervation and NCV tests showing severe sensory nerve abnormalities. The last EMG and muscle biopsy were done on the same day. Many of my symptoms feel like the stomach muscle growling except it's the other body muscles growling. I know this is the sensation of twitching because I have felt the sensation and seen the twitch at the same time. I read that the stomach growl sensation is the stomach muscle fasciculating. This is normal for the stomach but not other muscles on this regular a basis. These feelings are tremendously uncomfortable and Klonopin is the only thing I've found that helps. My most expert doctor I've seen is not sure how to categorize my condition as it does not fit neatly into any category. He assures me he is not thinking the worst at all but he still doesn't have a firm idea of what is going on. He refers to me as "atypical" and an "outlier."

Sueboy, you've had them this bad continuously? I mean twitches almost every five seconds somewhere on your body (aside from the constant places)? Please let me know, as that would help a lot. E

raideryparkeryranger, It is hard to say that I feel the twitches all the time because when I am busy doing things I don't feel them as much. However, at rest, yes I feel them all the time bodywide but mostly in calves feet and arms. I do get them everywhere though; stomach, thigh, buttocks, back, temple, vibration inside ear, you name it. I havent noticed lip or toungue twitches yet but i am new to this being only about three months in. Do you get the tremor feelings in your arms and shoulders as if your body is shaking? That is worse than the twitching in my opinion. It almost feels as if I have the flu and I have the shakes. I am trying to keep a level head about all of this. I have an emg test scheduled for march 31. The antibiotic you took, is it considered a "quinolone" or "fluoroquinolone" antibiotic?

E,Yes I get them that much. Mine started 2 years ago with a lip twitch and within days were all over my body. My feet and calves never stop and the rest of me has a "ping" somewhere all of the time. When I am busy I don't even pay attention anymore, but as soon as I think about them I always feel them. I went to a neuro in the very beginning and he did a quick neuro check and found nothing. He did not even go an EMG. He just said benign. I had a hard time believing it at first but after 2 years I believe it. Hope that helps. Sueboy

Jersey devil,I get the tremor feelings and shaking too. It was something I noticed from the beginning and was definitely like nothing I ever experienced. It is still a prominent symptom. I think it is all nerve hyperexciteability as my neuro just repeats that every time I describe my syptoms.Krackersones

Krackersones, same thing here. The annoying part is I get the twitches all over randomly, but besides my calves and tricep (which twitch continuously) I usually have a least another hot spot on my body that lasts for two or three days, then moves to the next 2-3 day spot. Sucks. Do you all have this?

raideryparkeryranger,I assure you I have everything you mentioned. I've said this many times but I do take .5 mgs of Klonopin two to three times over 24 hrs as needed. This really helps with the intensity of the sensations and the tremor feeling. If I didn't have this I wouldn't be going about life as I do.Krackersones

Thanks Krackersones... I'm feeling great today... the support you guys give is great.. Also, I've been a competitive bodybuilder for about 9 years now, and today when I was at the gym I felt strong as an OX... A lot of this *beep* is mental (obviously the physical symptoms are VERY, VERY real, but the mental lousy feeling, anxiety is horrible. E out.

PrickLedPin,Can you be more specific about the problems you faced getting off Klonopin. I have been taking this since October and it is the only thing that has helped. I take 2 to 3 .5mg tabs a day. I just want to know what I might be in for.Krackersones
