Trying Dark Chocolate for Supplements

Has anybody found magnesium or anti oxidant supplements helpful? Doctors have drawn a blank and told me to wait a year so I'm looking for natural help. Apparently dark chocolate is high in both! Worth a try! I can think of less pleasant cures! Will try it and let you all know if it helps!

I have been on magnesium supplements (and B-12 supplements) for about 3 weeks. I have noticed a marked decrease in my twitching, but I have no idea if that was caused by the vitamins or not. Since there's such a high placebo effect with BFS, there's no way to really tell for sure. My advice is that if taking vitamin supplements makes you feel better about yourself, then take them. It can't possibly hurt.

If the twitching is related to Mg deficit, than it wont be better earlier than in 2-3 months. Magnesium has to be taken together with calcium or the effect is almost zero. Its a bit difficult to increase Mg level in blood, so thats why that longer time is needed. However, for cramps my neuro told me it helps very quickly.About supplements: I have bought a lot of expensive antioxidants but not even one helped me. I think its just because BFS doesnt have to be always caused by mineral imbalance, so it just can be handled that way.

Thanks guys - this forum is so much better than the doctors. Wow! Two conflicting replies. Suppose it confirms the fact that we get the same symptoms but they are caused by different things. I'm not one for supplements - I tend to think that diet should give me what I need. Suppose all I can do is try it! Chocolate it is then!

ListoR: Chocolate contains caffeine so its consumation could worsen the twitching.. Of course it wont be true for everybody...But for example my twitching is worse after coca-cola etc.

Thanks - I have noticed a decline in twitches if I cut out caffiene. You seem very knowledgeable. have you found anything which helps?

ListoR: not really..I have tried many things but only with small success..now I try to do not eat or drink anything with caffeine, taurin and other stimulants - I just try give some rest to me nerves.. I can say its better, I twitch definitely less.PS: Its known fact that coriander is the best natural detoxicant of central nervous system. I have not tried it yet, since I cannot get it fresh...but I think it is really worth. If you know the story of als patient eric who stopped ALS with his own detoxication, you will probably know that he was using coriander too..no matter if this famous story is truth or not, I would like to try coriander..

I have coriander in the garden! I'm off to chew some! I'll let you know if it helps! I've also found a supplier for cocoa nibs which are not easy to get in England. They don't look very appetising but the health benefits seem huge if you read about them.

Lucky one! I wish I had the possibility to get the fresh coriander too..maybe it wont help, but why not to try so good and natural detoxication. Also Im really interested how you will be doing after a few weeks, keep us updated please!

Thanks to magnesium I don't have any cramps in calves. I agree with Savanturn's Neuro. It helps immediately, in a few hours.I prefer natural spring water enriched with Mg, not magnesium aritificial suplements. Twitching in calves are always there.

What a good idea! I drink lots of water - will look out for it. I'm not sure whether we can get it here. I tried magnesium tablets but they upset my stomach. I've bee reading a lot of stuff on the net about bfs being related to herpes - sounds really convincing. Went to croatia this year! What a beautiful place!

Actually it is Slovenian product named DONAT Mg. 1 gram of Magnesium per liter; completely natural product. Try to find in UK in specialized stores.
