Has anyone in the current posting body of people been assessed for Tourettes Syndrome?
I went to a movement disorder specialist in Texas at what is suppose to be a teaching/research hospital (very reputable). Anyways, I was told that "I satisfied criterion for Tourette's Syndrome." My case is considered very mild.....neuros words! At least I don't need deep brain stimulation. This is after I presented a heavy amount of medical information such as lab, scans, and prior neurologist diagnosis of BCFS. Anyways, the medication is 99% the same as that used for BCFS. Now, I am wondering if BCFS is a variant of Tourette's syndrome. Or if the converse is true! I know this topic was likely covered on this sight but got little if any responses.
This throws a curve ball at me since this very much respected neuro thinks that Tourette's is my core issue. He seemed unconcerned with me mentioning cramping, spasming and fasiculations. As a matter of fact I left a six page letter (size 10 font) with him detailing my symptoms and medications for the past three years. He did go through a 20 minute questioning session with me about my symptoms followed by a 15 minute examination of reflexes, walking, and a host of other physical examinations. At least he said I had NO trace of MS, ALS or Parkinson's!
Well, I may need to start reviewing Tourette's to see if it fits my case of symptoms since I had heard of Tourette's before but I never ever considered this as a possible candidate for a diagnosis! The only thing I walked away with is that I may have more than one free standing condition....BCFS and possibly now Tourette's. I got to say he was very thorough in his exam! Oh, and I also satisfy criterion for OCD! I am racking up a good amount of diagnosis the more doctors I see!
Diagnosis so far:
Sleep Apnea....I believe this one!
BCFS.....I also believe this one!
Tourette's Syndrome......maybe since it's from a very respected source!
Blepherospasams......never belived this one
Hemi-Facial Spasams.........Who knows
Parinaud.........never belived this one
Dry Eye (right eye)
Icthyosis
Maybe I am coming down with Lab Coat Syndrome!
My personnal belief is auto-immune since they travel in packs! Anybody got any ideas? All in all I may have Tourette's but it sure as hell is not the only thing wrong with me since I can't supress my biceps from twitching or my calf muscle spasming!
