Tongue Twitch: Normal EMG?

i have been twitching now for about 6 months. i'm learning not to worry about it. . . i had a normal emg, so that eased my mind. i was just wondering if anyone else's tongue twitches from time to time? mine does at least once a day or every other day. does anyone else experience this? i know with a normal emg, i am supposed to have nothing to fear, but i've heard that if your tongue twitches, that's a really bad thing. let me know if anyone else has this in common with me!! thanks!

Kristin, what you "heard" about tongue twitching meaning something really bad is about as out of line as hearing that "twitching leads to ALS". A LOT of people with BFS report tongue twitches and a lot of people talk about it in this forum and many other firums as well. I have seen LOTS of people talk about them and all they have is BFS. You had a clean EMG and that is something to hang onto because a clean EMG means no ALS. Yes, tongue twitches are scary and they feel totally weird. I had some one time myself but it was only for a few seconds. Other people have tongue twitches for weeks and months on end and all they have if BFS. Relax dear, take a deep breath and r-e-l-a-x.. ahhhhhhh. There you go... feel better? Good.

My tongue twitches also, as does practically every other muscle in my body! Has anyone had their doctor tell them that tongue twitches are no more worrisome than other twitches? I don't have trouble talking or swallowing.

My tongue tremors if I stick it out and sometimes has lots of tiny fasciculations and my doctor and neuro have seen them. My neuromuscular specialist was not concerned to my amazement! and she sees people with ALS and other very serious neuromuscular diseases all the time. Once in a while I get a wierd feeling near the tip of my tongue like a minature cramp or twitch and it lasts for a second and then it is gone. I can sympathize with all other tongue twitchers, but since I have had this for one year and have no trouble speaking or swallowing I am not as worried, but it is tough to let go of the worry. I struggle with it. I do know that if I have caffeine it gets worse so I have sworn off caffeine.
