Hey everyone! I have been seeing my tongue a little weirdThese days! Can u tell me if this is what atrophy looks like and if i should go back to my neuro? I had a clean emg 3 weeks ago, they tested jaw and paraspinals but not the tongue. Also how long does it take for atrophy to develop after it starts. I dont have any problema eating although I do feel i stumble on some words once in a while but I can quickly correct myself.I have attached some pics:Another pic:Another:Final:

Hey, Your making shapes with your tongue and stocking it out different each time lol ... The 2nd last one looks similar to mine as You can see teeth marks on the sides from pressing against your teeth which is normal for a lot of people. you can make your tongue skinny or fat depending on how you stick it out or flex it... I`m not a doctor but it looks like a tongue to me... My wife`s tongue is different to mine and I`m sure most people don't even know what their tongues look like... If your not having difficulty eating, drinking or talking then I would keep it in your moth and stop thinking about it...If you think too much about how you talk you will start to analyse every word and pronunciations almost waiting for that one or few times a day you actually to stumble on a few words but hey its going to happen if your setting your self up for it and making yourself anxious about it .. I've been there too and analyzing words and speech does nothing but increase your anxiety, I do it on and off for months... I have been told if you have a problem with that area you wont have to continuously look for it... I think your good to go Twitchy !!

Thank you for your response but cant u see that it is going to one side and that it seems at if I have less muscle on myRight side than on my left?

well not on the 2nd last pic... I can stick my tongue out and it can look loads of different ways ... skinny fat or more to one side... I think you are meant to rest you tongue on your bottom lip and loo at it in your mouth then slowly stick it out in a relaxed fashion and look at it too... I think you will find it looks ok when done that way.

Well when the neuro looked at mine he said rest it on the bottom lip and he looked a while then he said stick it out .... so I just stuck it out and didn't tense it up and that was it ... I said is it ok to have teeth marks and he was like .. yeah people get that.. He didn't ask me to tense it up etc ... of course its going to get skinny etc when you tense it up and push and pull it differently ... I seriously think you should put it back in your mouth and relax about it as there is no reason for you to be looking at it .. I looked at mine as mine twitches... does your twitch much ?
