Tiredness and BFS: Causes?

Why is that tiredness (through overdoing it- working too hard..not boozing too hard!) and lack of sleep, make BFS symptoms worse? Everytime I am in that situation my BFS symptoms increase heaps. Medically speaking is it because the nerves are 'tired' and more prone to twitching?? Would be interested if anyone has any theories. cheersRodger

My guess is that it's because BFS is similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Our muscles just don't recover as quickly as normal peoples' do. Without a solid 7-9 hours of sleep every night, our muscles rebel. Then you get tired muscles on top of tired muscles, which just compounds the problem.

I was thinking about this the other day. Here is my thought. Our calves twitch while we sleep so they don't really get any down time. Because of this, our muscles are more susceptable to getting upset when we are tired or have been working out.

Stress makes you tired. It's very common for people under any kind of stress to feel exhausted. I don't think nerves get 'tired' - muscles do, but it is common for twitching in any person (or other mammals as I see it in pets also) to increase when tired (bfs or not). Another aspect is lack of circulation from being sedentary - this keeps the body from eliminating wastes, etc. Exercise seems to cure me of this to some degree when its due to non-physical work load although it is sometimes hard to pull yourself together to exercise when you are exhausted from a long day at work or not sleeping enough. Even a little stretching seems to help. If it's from physical work I'd stick with stretching myself. It's not a theory, it's just my little personal experience. I wish everyone would stop using that word incorrectly - a theory has proven research behind it that has been tested over time. Hypothesis is a better word - an explanation of observed phenomenon.

Sorry 'I'm OK' for the incorrect use of the term 'theory' ( have used it incorrectly in another post as well).I shall exchange that for word hypothesis (as suggested), idea, thoughts, inkling or even WTF is going on!That aside I would be intested if anyone has come across any theories.... ;) Oh, I agree with the muscle hypothesis. see yaRodgerPS come to think of it , I also develop a twitch of the eyelid when I get tired, and that was well 'before' BFS (I think??)
