Time to Lower Guard?

Is it time I should lower my guard a little bit and stop being so completely paranoid of it? It's been 9.5 months of this stuff, slowly getting worse all of the time. I twitch constantly in many places. It's driving me crazy. However, I can do everything that I always have been doing, and have lost no strength. What gives? My brain and body are so tired of this constant worry. Any thoughts?E

I can't help but be a little jealous of the amount of time you have in this thing. I only have 4 months. But enough about me :D) There has to come a time when you choose how you are going to minimize your anxiety. Talk to your doctor about it. CBT works great if you have a good therapist in your area. SSRI's work great for some, but not everyone. Getting busy and staying away from info about *** and other neuro diseases is also a good way to go. Limit your exposure to negative information. The fact that you are still going strong after 9.5 months pretty much rules out the big stuff.Good luck!Becky

Yeah, it's totes time. The bodily symptoms and the anxiety are two separate things. The anxiety was there before the sypmtoms. No, I'm not saying anxiety caused your symptoms, but if we think about it, hasn't anxiety been present in our lives since we were little? So, anxiety is nothing new, only these little symptoms that we call bfs. Bfs is a well-documented, especially on here, syndrome, and so...time to party.Basso

I have only been twitching for a little over a month. Some days I convince myself I am ok and other days I convince myself I have the dreaded A word. It's really hard. I am taking Lexapro and Xanax which is helping me alot. I've had a clean EMG and have seen 4 doctors in the past month who tell me it's my thyroid but I don't believe them. Hopefully with time, I will believe I am ok. Hang in there you are not alone.

Hi 'E'Yes it's definitely time to let down your guard - widespread fasciculation not restricted to one body site, long duration of symptoms, no weakness.... the probability that these symptoms are caused by anything other than a benign problem must be as near as *beep* it zero by now!RegardsSimon
