Thumb Tightness and Brisk Reflexes

Do any of you get this too? My right thumb/thumb pad feels very tight---I have no trouble moving it and no change in strength but it feels off/like the muscle and tendon are stiffening. I guess I am more concerned about this because I saw another neuro (saw the last 1 month into this----which was 9 months ago---total of 10 months of twitching) and he told me that all of my reflexes were "brisk" though he said this was likely normal for a young athletic male. This freaked me out because the last neuro just told me that my reflexes were normal. The new neuro said that he wasn't worried---couldn't guarantee anything 100% but if I was still concerned I could see him again in March and get another EMG (1 negative 9 months ago) to get another at greater than 1 year. My concern is the brisk reflexes and this tightness----is this UMN lesion signs? IS this tightness actually increased tone and spasticity? I feel it even now as I am typing.

Hey nerviousguy, My biggest critisim of doctors is they always give out their theory. Maybe they figure since they charge so much an hour (yes I know they don't take all pay home, have high insurance, etc, so don't flame me).Anyway I think sometimes they feel compelled to give a theory when I wish they would just say 'I don't know'. Or 'maybe it could be this'.Because it seems to me a lot of people get upset by their various diagnosis. Most of which seem quite normal.-43RichyThe43rd

in my experience the reflex testing and evaluation depends a lot on the person who does it. my gp said i had brisk reflexes in my arms, first neuro said reflexes are normal, second neuro said reflexes are brisk.... ( all within 2 weeks).brisk reflexes are normal with bfs and, according to my 2nd neuro, also normal with young and healthy people and - with stress and anxiousness!!!i have had tight feelings from time to time in my forearms or calves, for me i think it was anxiety related. however, it is not uncommon with bfs...
