Hello!Lately I have been having a lot of problems with my throat. It feels like I have something small lodged in it. It makes my throat scratchy and I have a need to cough a lot. Sometimes it even makes my voice crack. Also, the other night I woke up choking on my own saliva, like it went down the wrong pipe.So is this Globus sensation? I know I can google but I stopped googling everything symptom related. :)

Stop googling! I don't know but I know I've had that before (even way before any of this) but I refuse to look it up. :) so I don't know but now you have me swallowing!! ;)

Hey smithylab...Yes what you are describing is absolutely Globus...and its completely harmless but it is so annoying..and can feel scary if you focus on it too much...its super common with many of us in the early days but can happen to anyone at anytime...it will pass..Try to relax...even though I had that myself and it was hard to ignore...but like I said..it will for sure pass.Take care :)

exactly. It varies from feeling of scratch, small thing (sometimes like a hair) stuck in the throat, pain without obvious inflammation to the feeling of really a piece of something adding you quite a pain every time you swallowing. In fact it is just spasm and tension cuased by overexcited nervous system. I had all varieties of it in the last 20 years, starting from what you describe to a feeling that I've got a fruit stone stuck in there. The only way to get rid of it is just distraction. Nothing else helps so good...

Globus is quite annoying because you really think that something is lodged or growing inside your throat. I had this problem two years ago and the ENT doctor checked that the throat was irritated due to acid reflux. I took omeprazole-like medications for a long time and the globus sensation was slowly disappearing. You need patience, because it takes a while for the medication to work and the throat to heal. Now I avoid going to bed on a full stomach. Also, anxiety plays a huge role in this...
