Thread Title: Muscle Twitching and Aching?

I was wondering if anyone has the same symptoms as me. Ihave been twitching for almost 10 months now. Pretty much everywhere. Clean EMG and no diagnosis from either the GP or the neuro.

I have (almost every day now) a pain in one or more of my muscles. The best way to describe it is if I put pressure on a certain area it begins to hurt. Sort of an aching feeling and cramping. Forearms (the undersides), calves and occasionally feet and biceps hurt. It is becoming more and more of a problem. Not sure if anyone has this feeling or not. and also not sure where to turn next. I believe the twitching and achey/cramping feelings are related because if I don't feel any twitching I usually don't have these pains, although I have had them without the twitching. I don't notice any weakness.

sorry for the almost repeat in posts, just really bothering me a lot lately.

thanks

Bassman – I get the exact same thing mostly in my forearms but also calves. I’ve mentioned it before in other posts. It went away for a couple of months (after I started ALA), but has returned a bit with my recent flare up. Not quite as bad, and I’m taking the ALA again.

Hi Bassman

I get a really bad pain in muscles in both my calves. It feels like I've pulled the muscle badly or that they have cramped during the night or something and the pain is a kind of after-pain

I hate those muscle aches with about the same intensity as I do the twitching

cheers, Julia

I get that too. I find massage and stretching keeps it virtually at bay now. I have massage once a week and she concentrates on my feet and calves and it really has made a difference to the aches.

Lynx-

My neuro has mentioned Trileptal as a possible next rounds of meds. Things I've read about it seem positive so maybe the side effects won't be so bad. After being med free for a few weeks in months, I'm starting to think a little dizziness and being tired are worth the relief from constant pain.

I guess I'm struggling with the whole med thing. I'm 36 so no spring chicken and we would like to try to have another child and well almost any drug doesn't mix well with pregnancy. We have a soon to be 2 yr old son and I know I have some time to have another child but the whole BCFS exploded about 9 months after my son was born....so it just threw a wrench in my family plans LOL I don't think I could tolerate another pregnancy with this condition. Ah but it's not that bad, the worst situtation is we'll be raising a very doted on only child, right?

To answer an earlier question, early morning and end of day are the worst for my pain.....but that could be in the middle of the day I'm a desk jockey. Any time I'm standing my legs and feet twitch wildly with sharp shooting nerve pain during a flare up and/or just run of the mill dull stiff sore pain ....seems like those with severe muscle or nerve pain have also had disk problems. About 5 yrs ago, I herniated my lower back disks ....L4-5 ... believe it or not doing naked twister  with my then fiance. LOL My medical charts must be a interesting read for some intern LOL Have to keep a sense of humor about this whole thing, eh?

hi i'm a new member to the site & have had twitching now for about 2 months. For the past 4weeks I have had excrutiating pain in my calves right worse than left, so much so i had my DDimer checked to exclude a clot!! Negative of course. I find stretching first thing before I get up really helps, it feels like my calf has been doing a nocturnal marathon.

I have to say that the suport from this site is fantastatic! It its so reassuring to see others having the same fears as myself,

Hello!

Just one more question regarding muscle pain: I had generalized muscle pain+fatigue for more than one year before the generalized twitching started. It was alternating at that timein weekly periods and I had to take some Paracetamol to relief. After that my twitching started in June last year this was not accompanied by this kind of pain only some crampy stiff/sore feeling in the limbs. Everything BFCS?

Has anyone made the same experiences?

Thanks,

Astro :)

Hi
i am on the anticonvulsion med called Gabapentin, although it has not moved the pains in my feet,it has stopped the leg pain by 99%.

hope this helps!

good luck.
