Hello Board. I am writing this post in a response to a recent thread; which perhaps will go down in the history of this site as “THE THREAD.” LOL
This post is not about why or how “the thread” started, or the twists and turns that it then took. Rather it is to acknowledge, publicly, a faltering of my post-bfs self. Not so long ago, a young man came to this forum seeking reassurance for certain perceived issues regarding his health, and inquiring about BFS (I'm glad to say that he is doing very well, and appears to have bfs). It was during one of these posts, that a bfs colleague, Dave Y, and I had a confrontation regarding what represented sound advice, and what did not. I am not here to rehash the details of this, but rather to highlight my culpability in treating a fellow human shabbily. In my eagerness to help this fellow in question, I trod on Dave Y’s toes by not taking into account that he too is suffering.
If bfs has taught me anything it is that, kindness and gentleness must be the hallmark of a good life. I lost sight of this for a brief moment, and for that I apologize to the board and Dave Y. This board is a marvel of diversity and opinion, and it is this very diversity which is it’s strength. Any positive contribution must take this into consideration. There are no fiefdoms here, only a caring community that “does good.,” most of the time.
This does not mean that there should not be heated debate or confrontation at times, but it should be couched in the kind of respect that allows for suffering people, not to suffer further injury.
Cheers,
Basso
