The Connection Between Anxiety and BFS

I am by no means a medical doctor or a secientist. Although I am going to put foth a hypothesis that BFS may be incresed by anxiety - and people with anxiety problems may be more prone to BFS. This is why........In my own cases I know the twitching has flared up in times of stress once when I was moving from my hometown and the most recent over being worried about my health. One thing I noticed in going over the surveys is almost everyone here with BFS was terriefied of ALS some people even thinking they wee dying. All this even though they may not have actually had any symptoms of ALS (being disbalanced, clinical weaknes, and inability to do basic daily activities). I sometimes have the same irrational fears of minor symptoms being something big. Looks like us who have anxiety over small thngs being catastropic are more prone to this twitching.Of course I have no scientific proof but i feel confident this twitching is liked with anxiet or people who have a tendency to feel alot of anxiety. Any thoughts?

Maybe the people who are terrified of ALS, have a lot of anxiety, or are afraid of dying, are just the most vocal on this forum? If something is bothering you, you may choose to work it out verbally - not all that uncommon. Of course, those people search out or attract others who want to discuss the same things they do. Some of us, are not so anxiety prone but don't talk about how we're not. I'm not a fearful person (except for perhaps when driving in one of the worst areas in the US for vehicular craziness which I must do every day). That's not to say I haven't had times of great stress which irritates this syndrome and may even have a hand in causing it; but the stress is usually external in origin and typical of living in a large city and coming in contact with many people, etc. Plus we have to consider other types of stress: physical trauma or infection induced, external emotional induced (i.e. family illness or death.)So while your hypothesis may have merit, it is exclusive. I'm sure there are many people with forms of pnhe that are not anxiety prone and even some that have had no extreme stress (that they can remember) prior to onset of symptoms. I think this is an equal opportunity syndrome. Too bad it isn't more interesting to the medical researchers so we had real data. No wait, I take that back as they are more concerned with ailments that cause death, which, thankfully, this one doesn't.
