Thank you for your help! Twitches and Jerks Subsiding After Exam

Many of you have been helpful on a couple of other questions I have posted. I am hoping to get a little more info and maybe some similar experiencesA little while ago I had a clean clinical exam with a neuro. I did not have an EMG. He said he would do it but was, "95% sure it would be normal." Seemed reasonable to not have it done.A few days after the exam, many of my twitches and jerks had subsided or disappeared, reaffirming to me what many have said about the effect of stress. However, my one lingering symptom is in my left hand. My fingers "feel" like they want to curl up into a fist, although they don't. In addition, the pad of my thumb has numerous twitches in the same place and the muscles ache on and off. Also, my palm feels "achy and crampy" and the muscles constantly feel tight, although i have lost no flexibility. One additional item, my hand and my forearm "feel" weak. I am certain, at this point, there is no actual weakness because of clinical exam and being able to do everything I normally do.As I understand, these symptoms, were they related to **S, would be preceded by "actual" weakness. However, my concern stems from the fact that my previous twitches and Jerks were all over and not focused in one spot. Now, they all seem focused on my hand and forearm and seem to have added the dimension of "wanting to curl up and and feeling crampy. Are these anything to be concerned about? Would you recommend the EMG for medical reasons (I may have it done for psychological reasons anyway).?Thank you very much.

ImOk,Thanks for your response. That is very helpful to know. One more quick question. I have also noticed very fine, rapid twitches in the pad of my thumb. I can only notice them when I am still. It almost feels like a buzzing. Is this consistent with BFS/BCFS?Thanks

I have BFS. My 'buzzing' is localised to just one part of my right lower leg - it is not widespread. I don't know if this helps.RegardsSimon

Yes, it's like a pager or a cell phone on silent - one of the more pleasant sensations (no pain, slightly amusing) among the many. It may not move today or next week but it does eventually for most of us - you should try not to worry about this stuff. I have one that re-occurs in the same area but like, once every other month. Some people have been effected in the same area for very long periods of time, some not. The only consistent thing about bfs/bcfs is it's lack of consistency and it's benign character (as in no progressive damage or threat of dying from it) so if you freak every time you get a new sensation, or it moves, or it doesn't, or it is worse, or better, you'll always be freaking out. Yes, of course it is irritating and makes you wonder what the heck; but if you are going to work toward healing you can't focus on each little symptom. Over time you see that it means very little - we are all still here and functioning regardless of what was vibrating last month. You have to move on as soon as possible away from fixation on the small weirdnesses. Find things that help you cope and increase your overall health; this in itself will make you feel better. Be pro-active and use this community to help you feel better.
