Tapping Sensation in Right Foot

After several glorious days of minimal activity, my right foot--primarily the sole and arch (of course) has come back to life. I have a rapid, yet irregular, tapping sensation--can't be seen and can't be felt with my hand! In fact, when I place my hand there, the sensation either stops or seems to actually move to my toes until I remove my hand. I gain temporary relief by flexing my foot (hard to do when wearing shoes--which my office rules require!) or bouncing my leg (not recommended while driving  ). At times, it seems to be just on the edge of major buzzing in my foot and can even be felt slightly up my calf but then backs off into more discernible "taps." I've had this occasionally in my left foot, but I do mean occasionally. Sound familiar to anyone? If so, what, if anything did you do to gain any sort of relief? It's minor (though when this has happened before, my arch will get sore before much more time passes), but incredibly distracting. I thought that perhaps my right foot had moved through its BFS phase and gotten on with its life but no, it has returned to torment me.And please, no Larry diotz2 foot-tapping jokes. . . . I'm not writing this from the stall of a men's room.Seriously, anyone have/had this and what, if anything, brought relief? Thanks,Mark

Mark-This was my most concerning symptom in my left foot for about the past 2 years. I actually tap my foot ALL the time to try to not feel the twitches. My Neuro told me that me flexing and tapping was only going to make things worse and it actually might be causing me to work out the muscle and cause these to occur more frequently. My left foot feels like it is its own creature and I have no control over it all the time. Tonight after my EMG I calmed down and didnt tap and refused to flex or stretch my toes upward...and it actually quit twitching and vibrating and buzzing on the arch/under the big toe. I mean if you really think about it if you get twitches in muscles you move or put pressure on, then the foot would be the same way. Just my feet have a LOT of internal buzzing and stuff all the time. It is the most annoying thing ever. I also got some Jelly foot inserts and they really helped out a lot (but then I threw away my shoes and dont have them anymore). So give that a try, it will take some pressure off your feet and help with the muscle strain (since our feet get the most workout of anything during the day).

My feet are probably my most active area for twitching, buzzing, etc., it's been going on & off for years. I 1st noticed the buzzing in my feet several years ago whenever I finished using the treadmill. Now it comes and goes whenever; if it's just the buzzing, I've learned to ignore it. The 1st "chronic" buzzing I remember with BFS was at the very top of my left leg, but over the years it's progessed to particularly everywhere. I've had many many years where my symptoms have been so slight that I didn't even worry about them. Also, as time goes on it sinks in more and more that what you have is "benign". Best wishes. Denise
