Taking Powder Magnesium for BFS/BCFS?

Has anyone here ever taken this stuff? It sounds too good to be true, but based on the manufacturer’s claims, it is guaranteed to relieve and prevent what appears to be most of the symptoms that BFS and BCFS sufferers on this site experience, including what seems to be the most likely cause of this syndrome to the majority of us, ANXIETY (stress).

I have noticed that there are other powder Magnesium citrate preparations in the market, each with its own proprietary body curing formulation, but none of the other manufacturers make claims this bold. These are excerpts from their web site:

“All Calm disappears your muscle spasms, muscle cramps, leg cramps, foot cramps, and most other body cramping conditions. The associated conditions include charley horse, restless legs, RLS, neck pain, leg pain, toe pain, nerve pain, tendonitis, carpel tunnel, low back pain, anxiety, muscle twitching and swollen or painful joints. When you take All Calm, these associated conditions disappear.”

“Many factors can cause muscle cramp misery. You may think it very bold of me to Guarantee your permanent and total satisfaction from muscle cramp misery. We both know your many previous attempts failed so it is actually a very sure bet to order All Calm.”

“Would you try All Calm if I Guaranteed that it will make your leg cramps vanish?

“Would you further believe that All Calm will vanish your leg cramps, foot cramps, toe cramps, muscle spasms, cramps from intense exercise and body cramps in general?”

“The remarkable thing about All Calm is the "Evidence of Results." If you don't see immediate results from All Calm, simply return it for a full refund. Period. It is as simple as that. This Guarantee has no expiry, not this month, this year or next year. You get the results you want or simply return All Calm. That's our Guarantee. Return it anytime for a full refund.”

i started taking calm about a month ago. you can get it at gnc, a nationwide chain of health foods and supplements. i think it is available over the internet too. a doctor friend recommended it...he seemed to think my twitching was due to messed up electrolytes, or contributing to it. i started taking calm and it reduced my twitching by about 80%. i was sure it was a placebo effect but here it is about five weeks later. i still twitch but it seems to lessen the intensity of them. not sure if it was the magnesium (this is in powder form and is easily absorbing). there are other variables that might have come into play. around a month ago i also cut back on caffeine, alcohol and other fun stuff, started eating more healthy foods, and started taking potassium and vitamins. if you do take this, i would recommend you dont take calcium two hours before or after as calcium works as an antagonist to magnesium. i do think it has helped quite a bit but not sure i would believe all the hype about what it can do. good luck. mike

I am certain that magnesium is a factor and I also think that the right type of magnesium is important. But I think for many of us, it could be an absorption problem so it doesn't matter how much magnesium you take.

I have supplemented magnesium for years and I was given a magnesium test and told that I was very low. This despite supplementing it daily.

I have started taking calcium and magnesium for about a week now. What i have noticed however is that my symptoms seem to have gotten worse (untill now for sure).
Has anyone had such a reaction. Is this normal, i mean first getting worse in order to get later better?

I read something recently that it said it takes at least a month for these suppliments to kick in, so I doubt that a week would be very conclusive. I took Calcium/magnesium for over three weeks and thought things had improved but the twitching came back at normal strength. I take a vitamin D every day but so far no change.
