Tackling Nerves with a Neurologist

Hi AllThought I’d tell you all what I’m up to now and ask a quick question.I had had enough of all the doubts and couldn’t bare to feel so scared anymore so I took out my savings and off I went to see a private Neurologist. I explained all my symptoms from the last year and what was going on now and said that I had had a normal Brain MRI etc but was still worried about MS and possibly ALS.He done a neuro exam which was completely normal and explained that with that and the normal Brain MRI that I didn’t have MS and the twitching he was so unconcerned about and said I don’t have ALS. He said that all the sensory symptoms were purely my brain not filtering out the normal every day sensations that people get but don’t pay attention to. He said that my brain had stopped filtering it all out because of my anxiety over it all. I really want to believe him! However he could see I was distressed and said he would do another Brain MRI and full spine MRI so that I could be completely happy that I had done everything. He will also be doing an EMG too.I will be getting all this done on Monday but I’m so scared that this time something will show. I will post my results when I get them. Stevo – if your out there, I have tried to PM you but it won’t let me, as we have had similar symptoms I thought you may be interested to see my results when I get them.Lately I have had a mild buzzing/pins & needles feeling in a small spot on the palm of my hand near were my wrist joins! It’s on off but is bothering me. Any have this?

Hi ChrisIt was 240 to see him originally then if you see him after it's 140 a time. The scan is 350 for brain, 550 for the C-Spine included. My whole spine and brain is £800. Like you i just can't deal with waiting!

Thanks Dawn, and good luck for monday, i am sure you will be fine, come back and tell us all how you got on! i will have a cold lager to celbrate on monday :D)

Hi Dawn,I've had that pins and needles sensation you are talking about. It's happened twice and both times it has been on a small spot on the back of my left heel. When I would walk on it, that area would feel completely numb. The first time it lasted 3 days and I think the second time lasted 4 or 5 days. I know it's a very weird sensation, but I'm sure you are fine and will get the reassurance you are looking for.
