Symptoms Since Super Bowl Night

My symptoms started the weekend of the superbowl.I woke with a bad charlie horse.Since that night i begin to get slight twitches in my calves, under my lip.arms occasionly, quads have cramped a few times,my left toe and fingers went numb for about 4 days, now its primarly on my leftside,my ankles feel weak,my calf muscles appear smaller in volume, when i try to sleep one of my limbs will jerk.I thought i had ms and went and had an mri of my brain but was negative. also had bloodwork cpk was 322, and amylase was 64, normal. So after about 3 moths of this going on and trying to get back in to see a nuero i went back to my gp and asked for another cpk test and if the could have an emg.ncv run at his office by an emg tech that performs the tests and a nuero examines the results. It involved all limbs and the neck muscles. It came back clean as a whistle for lwer extremities but that i had carpal tunnell in arms.My questions is if i had als wasting, twitching and cramping in legs wouldnt the test had picked it up even if after only 3 months of symptoms. Can a tech be good enough to pickup als on emg or does it really matter.Im in hell with stress because the symptoms wont stop.oh and my cpk level went back into normal range, high normal but normal.

Welcome to BFS. Sorry to hear what is bothering you. Though it may be difficult since you still have the symptoms, you can rule out ALS, with you clean EMG, which would have most certainly picked up ALS nerve damage in your legs, where your cramps are. And you don't have any paralyzing weakness (ie can't touch your thumb to your little finger), do you? And also by your moniker - Twitchyboy, I am assuming you are younger, which makes ALS even more unlikely. Put ALS behind you, There are stories out there (DONT YOU DARE GO LOOKING FOR THEM), but really the neurologist almost always suspects something is wrong, when someone with ALS comes to them, at the very least your neuro would call you back for another visit, but then again they do that sometimes just to allay their patients fears.

hey, dd thx for your reply it has been real helpful as i try to get past my als fears. You make some real good points. However , the twitching wont wane and my legs are beginning to cramp slightly., but im working through it.How many emg s did you have done before you got past your als fears.

Hi and welcome to BFS. You got some very good and solid info and support from some of the most awesome souls on this board, so I cant top it or say any better then they did, except to agree with them and say that you do NOT have ALS. Just go ahead and take that off your radar because you dont have it, and what you have going on is not leading up to ALS. You're all good I promise :D) Please take care and dont worry about this anymore than you have, its ok to let it go now. Trust us.Robynn :D)

BFS yes ALS NO! I am a 8-9 year twitcher had all the test done too. about the cramping in the legs ... I was told that happens after all the twitching we do our muscles start cramping it's nothing to worry about also fear makes the twitching worse!! I started out with leg twitching and was not concerned then I read a magazine article about twitching and ALS and fear came and the next morning I was twitching all over. So please don't let fear control you I know I've been there. Be strong and enjoy life!it's not ALS
