Symptoms of Sensory Nerves vs ALS

Tingling, pins and needles, numbness, and all of those symptoms are symptoms of sensory nerves. ALS however, does not affect sensory nerves just motor nerves. So, none of those semsations are indicators of ALS at all.

BFS does cause tingling sensations ,etc. as well as pain, cramping, and a myriad of other different symptoms.

Weakness in ALS is very profound. If you had it you would definitely know it. You;de have touble walking, getting out of a chair, raising your fork to your mouth to feed yourself ... REAL clinical weakness.

Body wide witching points to a benign condition like BFS. ALS twitching is usually localized to one area and shows up after symptoms of weakness and wasting/atrophy.

From the looks of it, it sounds as if you have BFS just the same as the rest of the 2,000+ members of this forum and the countless people who read it.

Don't be embarassed, we're just one big happy family of worry warts here to encourage each other ...

Here's a great article for you to read ... it covers a lot of the facts about BFS and ALS. It's very informative and encouraging ...

Take Care,

You are not at all going to die.

It's just very obnoxious. I already have it for more than 15 years...

It's nothing damaging.

Just VERY obnoxious.

EMG unnecessary I think.

Thanks for the welcome, Jenn! From your picture, I assume we're right around the same age - as much as it sucks that other people deal with this stuff, it's always a comfort to know that there are people out there in my demographic. Makes me feel less crazy!

I took Troy's advice and have been reading through some of the posts on here. One lady (I don't remember who) said she went to her neurologist, who was quoted as saying that "A** is a disease of weakness, not of twitching."

I think that is officially my new mantra. Weakness, not twitching. Weakness, not twitching.

Now I'm going to try and work out a little. Wish me luck on that one!
