Hi everyone,
I am fasciculating from 4 months now (start in calf both and recently move every where)...i have to admit that i am hypochondriac and stressed, stress and gym making my fasc worse and appearing in new area of my body...i am 30 years old man...I saw a neurologist that told me that "as i did not have any signs of weakness or reflexes changes, i should not worry about als"...I am just wondering if some one could confirm me that normally the time between fasc and first signs of amyotrophy/weakness in als is very short or not...how long fasc could be separate from any other als signs in general? so after 4 months of only fasc without any other signs, could i be sure about BFS ? Do i need to confirm BFS to do EMG even if no weakness nor atrophy are apparent ?
thanks for the help.

Muscle weakness precedes fasciculations (although there are exceptions to every rule).

I've never had an EMG. After a couple of basic office neuro tests, it was determined that an EMG would be a waste of time and money.

I've "survived" over 8 years with the incredible annoyance of this syndrome and have had no muscle weakness or atrophy or anything else that would suggest a MND. The symptoms have receded over the years (especially over the last year or so).

As stevenpaulo has written, "the first six years are the hardest."
