Whew, saw a neurologist yesterday, who is specialized in EMG, etc. He did everything, including an EMG and "evoked potentials" and EEG. Said, everything was fine. He could detect a small fascic in my calf, but nothing more. But, when lying flat, my twitches cease, whereas sitting I often twitch like crazy. He told me that fasciculations are like a yellow traffic-light - could be something, could be nothing. He said, mine are what is called benign (and he put it in hyphen with his hands). Although I am a physician, I didn´t clearly get his point, I was a little nervous, although I had been twitching for 6 months and nothing else has happened so far.I asked him, if it is psychosomatically, the whole fascic-thing, because I have seen so many on this board, who have an anxiety or OCD disorder. I had a major depression and panic attacks. He laughed and said, no way. Fasciculations are definitely not caused by psychological factors, but people with depression, etc are more prone to feel them and "look more into themselves".However, I still wonder, where this disease comes from. Especially, when you think about the "google-factor". So many people report that they had some localized twitching somewhere (I had it in my calf/feet after sports). After looking it up on google, I started twitching all over the place...My neurologist and my wife told me to stop thinking about it, but as I am a researcher and have conducted numerous clinical trials myself, I always want to know the reason. BTW, does anyone know about the status of the survey here?Just some thoughts.Markus
