Strange Sensation in Arms After Swimming

Hey all.

Even though I have "twitched" all over, tonight something weird happened.

I was swimming for a while and when I got out and wrapped a towel around myself, my arms started feeling like fireworks were going off. Both arms, mostly in the forearm.

You know how most of us have had those "popcorn" legs after exercise? Well, this was the same type of feeling only in my arms. I couldn't see any movement, just feel it. I've had huge thumpers before, and I've had these popcorn feelings in my legs before, but never in my forearms.

It kinda got me a little upset.

After 16 months I thought I've had it all.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks

Ginny

It happened to me before, I went playing tennis and the whole evening I got these really violent twitches in my arm, like all my muscles would go off in a chain real fast and strong... scary stuff.

It happened to me also. I was lifting weights, running and just plain active. I have been drinking powerade by the gallons and most of the twitching stopped. Then this past Monday I blasted my triceps with a good workout and I woke up in the middle of the night with a very violent twitching in my forearm and the muscles around the elbow. It has been going non stop for two days now. This is such a pain. I am like a big popcorn machine with these twitches every where. :)

Ginny,

Have peace.

You have been to a neurologist, twitching for 16 months, and are well in fact. Whatever weird thing is happening with all of us it seems not to be too serious. I have had the popcorn deal on my arms too. Legs especially but everywhere. I also have small twitches in the face that feel like pinpoints - a tickling sort of. All of this is totally nuts but you are okay. That can be said with certainty.

Personally, I cannot seem to take this advice myself - only some days. Others I am certain death is next to me. Somebody was talking about "what ifs" - Basso I think. It seems like this is a common thread here. We are told everything is fine but can't believe it. But "what if?".... It never ends...

My shrink tells me this extends way beyond just knowing we are physically okay. That the anxiety is a manifestation of deeper problems and we focus it on the body. Doesn't mean the symptoms are not real - just that our interpretation of them is wrong especially after we have been certified okay.

Hi Ginny,
It can happen in any muscle you use vigorously. It can even happen on torso !!!
So no worries for this one.
Best Regards.

I was on vacation last week and got into a pool just to walk around about chest deep in the water for about 10 minutes. When I got out I had twitches like crazy in both of my calves. A lot more than any other type of exercise. I stayed out of the water from then on because I could not stand it any longer.
