Strange Hand Cracking Sensation

Tonight my hand cracked while I was turning on the kitchen sink. It was a very strang feeling. Anyways, I flexed my thumb, for whatever reason, and looked down at my thumb. Every few seconds or so, there would be a little twich go across the thenar muscle. It looked like a flicker. When I stopped flexing my thumb, and let my thumb rest, I couldn't see anymore twitches. By the way, I couldn't feel these twitches at all. Has anyone else had a similar experience where there thumb started twitching when flexed?

Yes I have. Freaked me out big time and I probably even posted about it. I've also had that cracking sensation in my thumb and even in the palm of my hand. Also freaky. However, that was a few weeks ago, and I've actually gotten over it (imagine that!) During that time though, I couldn't stop obsessing about my hands. I found myself studying them constantly and watching for every little twitch and tremor. I noticed that if I flexed my thumb a certain way it would get very fine twitches in the thenar muscle. I couldn't feel them, but they were visible. Instant panic! I haven't noticed anything like that lately, but I'm not studying my thumbs like final exam notes either. Twitchy thumbs, both relaxed and flexed, come with the BFS territory.

Thanks for responding. Do you think it's more muscle fatigue than actual fasciculations? I was thinking that because the thenar muscle doesn't actually get held in the flexed position that frequently. I know I can make a muscle in my foot twitch my flexing it a certain way, and I can't feel those twitches either, but I've never really noticed it with my hand before. Twin2...did your twitches look like little visible twitches that couldn't be felt at all?

Yes, the twitches were on the palm side and I could not feel them. I could only see them when I flexed a certain way. I also noticed twitches in my thumb while pressing a button to get water from my refrigerator. All of these symptoms freaked me out, but I am seriously not worried about them anymore. Oh, and the cracking. I recently picked up a Coke can and could feel that cracking in my palm. I don't think this is muscle fatigue. I really have no clue what BFS is or why it causes such a variety of strange symptoms. However, I am starting (just starting) to believe that it is benign. It doesn't matter where your twitches, creaks, or cramps are. If you are not atrophied and weak, it is only BFS. (Now don't go obsessively strength testing and checking for atrophy. You don't have either!! )If you have more questions about hand symptoms, feel free to PM me. I've had the full range.

my left thumb is often a sort of twitching, it is more tremor like when I hold something with my thumb and my index finger (eg a sheet of paper).
