Stiff/Sore Leg Muscle: Relapsing?

My right leg/shin muscle has become increasingly stiff/sore. It feels like it's not working "right." I have all my strength - just achy and weird. How's that for a scientific explanation? I've also had somem tingly waves in the muscle. I know I'm in a relapse period (had this all for 3+ years) b/c my eyelid's twitching, and all my other twitches are worse. Anyone out there have something similar, and has anyone tried something that worked? I think my muscles are just goofed up at the moment - I actually got tennis elbow last week which is silly, and the pain was awful in the arm muscle. It lasted way longer than it should have. I'm assuming this is just another fun BFS thing...just thought someone out there might know a)how long it'll last and b)if I can do anything to make it better. Have done all the supplement stuff. Thanks!

I wake up in the middle of the night with terrible leg pain. It is like a very strong "ache" in the muscles at the back of my thighs, my calfs and shins. I also get "tremors" or buzzing in my legs. It's driving me mad!!!!!Stay Well...

Awwh, you sound like me. Really, it is this persistent muscle tightness and soreness that is the clincher - I just went to the-best-in-the-SE-NM clinician (so says my regular neuro and rheumatoid guy) and he suggested some physical therapy. I don't think I needed him to tell me that. This is the only part of this syndrome I haven't learned to cope with well. What happens is that you have unequal tightness on one side of a joint and this imbalance hurts your joints because it messes up your alignment. I have found some modalities that work - it's just that these are only partially covered by my insurance and I can't afford them as often as I need. I did not find that most massage therapies help but that crainial sacral therapy does. It tend to calm the whole nervous system and release tight muscles more often than not. Other than that, heat (hot packs, hot baths) help things move into the tolerable range sooner. But you really have to try different things: for instance I did acupuncture first and it helped with 2 APs but the rest of them (maybe 4 others) had no effect. The trick is finding one that works with a therapist/chiropractor that your insurance will pay out on.....Good luck and let us know what you discover.

i did too suffer from leg sorness,, but mostly leg pain.. fet and ankles althe way up to the calves... i had the globus sensation and parathesia along with twithching and all the bfs bull... its all part of this lovely illness.. today i started taking oxycontin.. it really works wonders for my bfs. i would sugest taking some kind of pain med,, if not an opiate type,, theres always over the counter,, but for me they never worked. i would see your doctor at least,, living with pain and sensory symptoms really blow.

no pain meds, make your body even more upside down....i have the soreness in both arm and on the outer side of the shinbow too. i do sports almost every day, my docs think there is a relation with sport but i refuse as i never had this before i started twitching...

Hi,The leg pains and not the twitching is what did my head in. I only had to start walking to get them. They have most definately improved but it took ages.I took magnesium alot, some people reckon it doesn't work. I mean its no cure but I'm sure it helped me. Mr GP told me to take one daily and then pop another when the pains were bad.I hate to admit it but I took a *beep* load of pain killers as well. If I didn't I would have been a ball of misery. I used to go to bed with heat packs on my legs, like an old granny lol. But it sure helped.Don't get concerned that it means anything sinister. I find i still get them badly at that time of the month ( no guys you wont).Hope they ease up soon, it's bloody horrible living with aching legs.Sharon

I'm aware! I sort of look like her too. Blonde hair, blue eyes, about her age. Sometimes when I pay with a credit card and people see the name they ask if I'm her. Of course there are about 1 million people in my state with my name!
