Statin Therapy and BFS Risk

As far as I remeber it was mentioned at least twice in elder members of this board (one was after 60, another over 70 as you can see in raised threads) that taking statins was consistent with twitching or muscle wasting. My point of view is that you have to weight all risks. Statines did not seem to damage neither of reporting persons permanently (at least one fellow had reported that his condition had improved after cancelling statine), but atherosclerosis may be much more deteriorating, especially if statine is prescribed in case of morbid obesity or after surgery. Read the leaflet and talk to your doctor. Another way is to rise a concern on the manufacturer website (believe me pharma companies collect ALL available data about adverse reactins and make regular reports for th authorities called Periodic Safety Reports (once every 3 to 5 years, even for such well known drugs as aspirine), or try to address FDA web site, maybe they have more info about that.

Statins are well known to cause severe muscle issues. It was shown in a recent study that the greater the *change* in cholesterol level, the greater the frequency of muscle damage and other side effects. Ran across the study when I was doing research on mitochondrial damage, muscle damage, and drugs which cause it.Many people take CoQ10 100mg-200mg daily for up to a year before they begin to see relief from statin induced muscular damage.-BFSB-
