Starting Panic Attacks and Twitches

Where do I start? Approximately 3 months ago I had a panic attack that woke me up in the middle of the night. Went to the ER the following morning.(should mention I was getting married in one week) Made it through the panic attack just fine, and was given oxezepam to treat in the future. Did not think much about it until 2 weeks later when I got this consistent twitch in my left forearm that lasted for 2-1/2 months. Thought the worst like many posts I have read. I started taking Magnesium, and Multivitamin.(1000mgs of Magnesium Oxide) The consistent twitch in the forearm went away within 8 days. I started to notice twitches all over my body since. Went to the doctors office and ended up with an appointment with a phyciatrist. I have noticed no muscle weakness, just a list of symptons that look very much like the ones I have read here. The main one that really spooked me was when I held a half positioned sit-up my upper body would start shaking after 5 seconds. Since reading some of your posts this does not spook me to the extent that it did. I have not scheduled an appointment with a nuerologist yet so I could not definitively tell you that I have BFS. Doctor wanted me to come back in another 2 months, I think then would be the appropriate time to do any scheduling. It is funny to me how all of us are alike, in that we went to the internet and scared the hell out of ourselves. Things seem to be getting better for me, but I can not say the idea of ALS has left my mind.

The posts I have read are great and seem to be very supportive. I am very glad I found this web site. Was really starting to loose it. Obsessing on ALS and Parkinson's. Anyone who wants to share symptons feel free to reply.

Side Note: Have added CO-Q10 to my daily regiment.(300mgs / day) seems to be doing something, to soon to tell.

Stay in the game and on top of life, we will all be gone to soon whether we do or don't have some deadly syndrome.

Hey Chance,

Congrats on your wedding! Sorry to hear you are stressing out about this twitching though...

My one bit of advice would be, if you could, to go ahead and schedule the appt. with a neuro. You sound to me like a fellow BFSer, but only your doctor can make that diagnosis. I think you will feel much more at ease if you are able to hear that it's benign from a neurologist.

Hang in there!
Jen

Hi Chance-

I am new here too...your timing is about the same as mine. It is a psychological fencing game on a daily basis for me at times. You, however, got medicine to help the anxiety early on, I tried to fight it and wound up in a bigger mess to dig myself out emotionally. How is your new bride handling all of this? Sometimes it is just as hard on them to hear us repeat ourselves over and over again...just a caution! My latest is tongue twitches and, if you read some of my other posts, I just found out from an ENT it is no big deal (not to the medical community anyways!!!)

I am curious to know more about this CO-Q10? Just what is it and can I buy it at a pharmacy? I like the idea of a homeopathic solution!

Keep us posted!

its not very often id disagree with you Jen but I have to say that this doesnt seem like BFS at all, it seems more like an Anxiety picture. There was nothing noticed by Chance until she had the panic attack and after that the twitches came, this to me would suggest a diagnosis of Anxiety when you see your neuro. However im not qualified to make a diagnosis and therefor I could be wrong, best advice in anybody in your situation is go see a neurologist.

Uber: I am not a female. Found that pretty funny though.

J.L. Gray: My wife does not understand. I find it hard for anyone to understand unless they are going through it. In fact I did not tell her until I made the appointment with my doctor. When I went to the doctor I got blood work done and things came back normal. Interesting to me is what my optrician said about normal; what is considered to fall in normal ranges may not be normal for your body. For those of you scared of MS, a optrician can pick up on eye exam. My optrician said everything seems fine when explaining what was happening. Better source of information for me than my doctor was. Back to my wife, although she does not understand she is strong and our relationship is not stressed.
I have had the left side, tip, of my tongue tingle or twitch. Very weird feeling.
CO-Q10 is a enzyme, stored in the liver and used by every cell in your body. Also doubles as a anti-oxidant. They have had some interesting results when treating Parkinson patients. It seems to be something of interest in the medical community. Do a search on your computer, you'll find some good reading. Should be able to buy it at any shopping center. I've read it is better to get in gel form as opposed to powder.
I have a hunch that a lot of these twitches are somehow tied to liver function. Has anyone done any reading on this? Someone posted about liver function and ALS, was not a fun one to read but did get me thinking. Saturday I started taking Milk Thistle and B12 and the twitching seems to be less. I have not been kind to my liver and was curious.
Has anyone else noticed that when their hot spot acts up the twitching at the rest of their body is less?
Final question, has anyone else been exposed to mold? Has anyone asked their doctor about this?

chance,

I've thought about the mold thing, because I'm allergic to it and have had it in my home and office. It did terrible things to me, such as nose bleeds and chronic sinus, but who knows if this is related. I have considered it though. If you find any info about, let me know.

Take care,
Gary

For what it's worth, here's more common experience:

In the 1980s, I experienced a toxic Vitamin A overdose (which affects the liver), and in 2002, I experienced a toxic mold and chemical exposure.

See "My BFS Experience" below.
