akeurogh, snapping that comes from the hip may be a torn piece of cartilage (Labrum) that gets "caught" in the joint space and makes a poppping sound. Some patients say it hurts others just note it. Same thing with the knee, cartilage rips, gets caught and when the bones move it pinches between and makes noise/hurts. The knee is called a meniscus or meniscal tear. Most common knee problem.....
My hips and knees are the worse. I snap, crackle, pop all the time and it is very loud. People are always laughing at me telling me to get some oil....lol..Jenn
