Slow Onset ALS: What's the Word?

OKay, I am really sorry because this is like the millionth time I have posted to this board since I joined yesterday! This site has sooooo much reading on it though, and you know, the more we read, sometimes the more we worry, even if most of it does make us feel better! So, I found some really old posts from someone called fredrick about "slow onset" ALS. What has anyone else heard about this? I am kind of nervous now, like, am I still going to be worrying about this another 3 years down the road? I thought ALS works quickly? I am trying so hard to get over this, and until I came across those "studies" or whatever you wanna call them I was actually feeling a lot better! Oye...Megan

There aren't any "studies," at least not the ones that those guys would like to pretend about. This is why I challenge these people, because they only do harm. I've read your story and you have what we all have here...bfs. That's it, and it isn't any more exciting than that; unless you can find a way to run naked through the forum. There is as much bullcrap here, as there is good stuff, and so you have to be careful what you read, and from whom. If you had anything more sinister than bfs you wouldn't be here; none of us would. So, you are OK, and you just have to get used to being a twitcher. :D) Basso

Hey Granger, any information on that mysterios "slow onset ALS" should be taken with with great caution as there isn't much medical evidence about it. Many people even say that this type of ALS doesn't exist at all... I just googled it and almost all results are questions of people asking if they might have slow onset ALS. Seriously, that's almost as unproven as "slow onset swine flu".
