Sleeping Problems: Swallowing Waking Me Up

Hi everyone,I've had a lot of sleeping problems lately, with sleep starts, etc. Last night I woke up several times b/c of these "jerks" as I was dozing off, but then when I finallly got to sleep I woke up due to "swallowing". I know people mention a "mini swallow" with twitching but these were normal swallows and actually woke me up. While I was typing this is happened again---A swallow that I did not initiate, it just happened. Is this normal--am I just noticing it after all these years? Am I maybe just becoming sensitive to everthing in my sleep? Thanks so much for your replies. Denise

I most definitely have that. Do you hear the clicking in your ears too? It started in my sleep and then it began to happen during the day. I believe it's called palatal myoclonus and it's supposed to be benign. It is at it's worst when I am nervous. Are you especially anxious? I told my neuro about it and he related the cause of it to anxiety. I notice when I take my Klonopin, it usually helps but not always.
