Here's a general question for members of this great, helpful community! I have had trouble falling/staying asleep without medication (Melatonex natural suplement). I tried Tylenol PM, but that just left me drug-dumb the next morning. My question is... do others who exhibit symptoms of bfs have the same trouble with the sleep cycle that I do? If I do not self-medicate with a few glasses of wine or a melatonex tablet I find myself on the edge of sleep then suddenly awoken by the startle/falling sensation. It's almost like a fight or flight feeling of adrenaline waking me up! What has worked for you? Do others suffer this terrible sleep cycle like I do? I am not awake all night with anxiety, it's just the inability to fall into deep REM and healing sleep! AHHH! However, on the rare occassion when I CAN sleep naturally, I have INCREDIBLE deep sleep and lots of dreams and feel GREAT the next day with little or no twitching. I have also read that the left to right eye movement of reading /REM sleep has an equalizing effect on the brain, bringing the right and left sides together to sooth the cortex. Anyone?
