Sleep Spasms & History Questions

Hi
I have been lurking here for 3 or 4 months.
But never posted.

I was sleeping hard after staying up all night.
I was sleeping on my arm and all of a sudden it went nuts like 8 or ten big spasms in bt large arm muscle

Woke me right up
then as I woke up it was gone
.
Anyone else have tis happen?

My history is july of 2002 I started having the shaks when I went to bed.
Then october My eye lid started twicthing for 1 week or so then my right arm twitched 1 night and went away(never to return so far)
In Dec I was having my wisdom teeth taken out and in the waiting room My index finger started to move back and forth(scary) But went away(1day)
Over the holidays all seemed ok.
Then in Jan my lip started to twich for a week and went away.
Then In march I got a nasty virus in my chest and then I got twitches all over the last 2 weeks have been like hit and run all the time.
No weekness so I have not been to my GP.
But Am schedulded for Apr 8th
I am 45 male and just trying to keep my sanity in all this.
Reading this site has helped but wow this is scary stuff

Thanks for your time

Dave

I have had twitches for a year now. they have got much better and I get very few now - in fact the only ones I get now are just after waking up.

I don't recall any quite so bad as you describe but they are definately much worse first thing in the morning.

You are doing the right thing getting your doctor to check it out. If there is one thing I have learned in the last year - itis not to try to diagnose yourself. I had lots of worries - muscles that looked different from the other side, funny sensations - my neurologist dismissed them all.

Hope your appointment goes OK - I am sure it will

Just to clarify

The bit that sounded worse than the twitches I get was the bit described as

" I was sleeping on my arm and all of a sudden it went nuts like 8 or ten big spasms in bt large arm muscle "

I agree with Dogbone - the rest seems pretty mild.

Good luck with your appointment - I am sure they will tell you that its benign - please do let us know.

best wishes

Rich

Well it went as you guys said.
Good news.

She is doing a Cal and Potassium lvl check.
She tested My strenght lvls and felt I showed no weekness So no need to recomend a specialist atm.

I asked about why all of sudden the more numerous twitches and she said It was not as common But with normal Muscle strength and the hit and move on pattern she felt no need to go further.

And as always the added if things change in the future come see me.

I am happy with this.

So thanks for all the help from the member here.

Dave
