Sharp Pains in Ribcage Area?

For the past few weeks I have been getting sharp pains in my rib cage area. It happens on both sides. It feels like it is coming more from the ribcage rather than underneath. I have read this can be associated with fibromyalgia. Just wondering if anyone out there had experienced the same thing. I've had some twitching in that area, but no more than usual. Thanks!

I'm curious about what you describe. I have had BFS without much in the way of muscle pain for 16 months. My story is that two weeks ago I developed a very severe pain in the right upper quadrant of my abdomen and lower anterior R chest wall. 8/10 in terms of severity. Was convinced it was gallbladder and, being a doc myself, arranged the relevant tests - all normal. So I went off to an osteopath on the basis that it was muscular/ referred from my spine. She did all the right things and made my back make loud clicking noises and also worked on my rib cage, where she said the problem was. This has helped to some extent but now I have the most diffuse and unpleasant muscle pain in my shoulders/ scapulae etc... all very much like my fibromyalgia patients. I had thought that the osteopath had corrected my previously lousy posture and that the pain I was experiencing was secondary to this but, having read your post, I wonder whether there is a bit of a fibromyalgia thing going on for me too. I'm back to see the osteopath on Monay so it'll be intersting to see what she says. All the bestSimon

Hi SimonI also had pain in the upper right of my abdomen. I thought it was likely gall bladder and went for a scan which turned out normal. The pain was not constant but severe at times. When I was prescribed amoxycillan for a suspected unrelated infection the pain went away almost immediately. After stopping the amoxycillan the pain did come back. I have had a positive lyme test at Igenex labs in California but all other lyme tests have been negative. Sandra D

thanks for the replies! by sharp pains I mean like a stitch that comes and goes. It is not in one specific location but moves around. I did see my GP who felt around there and said probably gas. I'm going back for yearly physical in a few weeks so I'll bring it up again.
